I don't currently play XIV. Sub ran out just recently and what the game has to offer for me(currently) isn't enough to retain my subscription. That doesn't mean I dislike the game. I enjoyed it while I played it, but there are several other games I play(and play more often) that offer the same or better at no cost.
I'm not sure that a single quarter of projected profit is important, especially as it relates to a subscription based MMO. About 70% of the initial launch numbers fade out over the first few months by trend. I guess XIV could break that trend, but lets be reasonable here. SE has poured money into XIV for initial development, operational costs since the launch of 1.0 and the cost of redeveloping and rebuilding for ARR for the better part of a decade now. It's going to be a little while before they get back to the surface.
I'm amused that developers haven't figured out a better way to try and hook players into their games in those critical first few months. If a fool and his money are so easily parted, why don't they have my subscription?

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.
