Today's patch 2.1 preview will feature the long-awaited Crystal Tower from FINAL FANTASY III! Enter with up to 24 players and do battle with the dark forces that have awoken within

  • Crystal Tower
Ancient scriptures speak of a resplendent tower forged of crystal. Reaching to the heavens, this massive monolith is said to have been erected by the Allagans at the height of their prosperity. Long thought to be a legend from centuries past, the fabled Crystal Tower has been freed from Hydaelyn's embrace, unearthed in the wake of the Calamity.
The Allagans' surpassing command of magic and technology fostered a civilization unlike any to precede or follow. What then, could be the purpose of this crystalline construct, and what forgotten relics now stir within its walls?

I thought this update was on the 17th... why does it say "Today's Patch 2.1"?

If the far right model is the tank gear, it's pretty wild.

Reminds me a bit of Dissidia's Warrior of Light, but the added color vomit I'd liken to Amano art makes me cringe a little.

Looks pretty. DF with 16 people I don't know is a no go though. Do not want. They're working on that though thankfully. Hopefully anyone I know will still be playing by the time they fix that to go in with an actual alliance instead of half assedly with 8 through DF with the sole intent of losing repeatedly or taking forever which I think is what the Depression/Defeat Finder is there for. SE really nailed the DF system... it's the fastest way to end up a sad failure angry at the world and hateful of everyone I've ever seen in a game. I look forward to it being put to great use with this 24 man set up.

I wonder how we will work around not being able to create a party (alliance) bigger than 8 so that FCs have the ability to form the required 24 man team?

I like the armor models. By blm is in bc and has af2 so he will miss out (sad because I like the blm armor design), but my other classes will benefit greatly. Smiley: nod

All I can say is that healers using a controller are going to hate life if they have to cycle through 24 people to select someone to cure. Smiley: lol

We won't, working as intended per Yoshi.

I'm 99% positive this won't be the case. I haven't seen anyone mention it but this obviously seems just like Kefka's Tower from FFVI, independent parties working in different parts of the dungeon, possibly points of overlap to switch paths.

I'm sure this is exactly why they won't be allowing FC's to do it, cause then they will just min max....8 BLM run path A to AoE the trash down, while Path B is 6 Smn, 1 Sch 1 BLM, etc. It seems very setup to be balanced groups being the intent to clear the content so anyone in DF can queue up and not need to be setup for a specific part of the towr.

Ah cool. I haven't raided in years because I find it completely tedious and boring, so when I heard it was a 24 man I thought "Well ****, looks like I won't be running Crystal Tower", but that sounds like a really awesome concept.

Exactly!

I hate good armor being ugly. Needless to say, I'm not a fan of the head+body and legs+feet sets... Somehow everytime I was fighting someone as PLD, I always ended looking off to the left at something else, other than what I was fighting.

This armor looks very much iconically Final Fantasy which I love. Strong colors and extravagance. Love it. But that far right definitely looks like the Warrior of Light. I'm also liking the Female Miqo'te in the presumably MNK garb. That's pretty awesome too.

I wanna look like a Judge from FFXII. Give me that and I'll be happy.
