I am making this thread to get you to imagine what the three ghost would show you about your experience if they came to visit you.
  • The past would be your experience from the announcement of FFXIV to the initial launch, up until a realm reborn.
  • The present would be your experience from post ARR launch until right now at this moment.
  • The future would be your ideal experience of what the game would be like from tomorrow onwards.

My past:
I am very excited about FFXIV coming from FFXI and I am enjoying reading any little tidbits of info, especially about the power gauge combat system, regiment system, and the targeting of monster parts to inhibit monsters.I imagine guildleves to be this awesome feature with my own dreams about it being a access system to jump into various types of content, and this version called journey leves which simulate traveling across huge zones on the way to ruin or dungeon. The game starts getting close to launch and I start hearing news about it performing poorly and it gets me nervous. I patiently wait as it starts getting revamped to what we will call ARR.

My present:
I see the videos of a ARR and it looks really awesome, my worries lessen and I finally buy and start to play the game. I am awed by how much better character customization is and the new job system. The game is beautiful, I enjoy my first romp through the game to level cap. At this point, criticisms don't even have time to pop into my mind. The story is nice, progression is nice, it doesn't feel like a grind. I wonder that if every job/class I level through has unique personal story in addition to the main story. I am in for a treat. On the second romp, I start noticing things are different like fates were not so dynamic as in other games. The exciting combat stuff at the beginning has been taken out and the weight of a limiting GCD and simple LB starts setting in. Leves definitely not what I envisioned them to be. The dungeons are very well artistically themed but don't feel hugely different from one another. I notice me wanting more gameplay differences in party dynamics in relation to what dungeons ran. I love the chocobo but wished they still had the path companion, I think this is from playing a bunch of Bioware games lol. Crafting struck me as awesome and the concept of being able to repair stuff on the spot, loved the idea of having all the crafting abilities like a battle class until I realized you can't use most of the cool stuff most often.

My future:
I want to see the global cooldown is removed with resources re-balanced to prevent spam. I want to enter areas I could solo some, groups with 1-2 friends, or join a party or alliance. The class system is either removed or has the chains taken off for more open world content to facilitate easier/flexible grouping. Would like a return to some form of renkai or regiment system along with the monster part targeting.Perhaps combat in general to be more than memorization, like unintended gameplay scenarios such as pulling, kiting, etc. I desire enemies to build up resistance to things like stun, bind, and various stuff through exposure, not just flat out resist instantly. I wish they could introduce some more variance/story for quests and guildleves rather than a daily spam thing run and done. I want them to examine what makes similar things in other games good and go beyond that and improve it and implement it. And I am not just talking about FFXI which would be a no brainer but other games in general and it doesn't have to be relegated to just rpgs and mmos.

Last but not least, if you guys talk to Santa, tell him daddy wants to own a home.
