1. Sooo ummm when did Yda die? Was it during our time playing the game or was it Pre ARR or after the calamity but before we start playing?

2. So is Lyse the girl in the stormblood trailer in the red dress?

3. Is Doma and Ala Mhigo the same pace? or in the Same place?

Soo I just found out Eorzea is the name of the land the game takes place in.. I thought it was the name of the planet.

1. Well, I know they said six years ago, so probably sometime between the calamity and ARR. That's just a guess, though.

2. I think it's fairly definite that the girl in the trailer is Lyse. I'm not absolutely certain, of course, but Lyse and that girl look so similar that I think it's safe to assume so.

3. Nope. Ala Mhigo is on the continet of Aldenard, same as where we've been so far this whole time. Doma is on the continent of Othard, far to the east of Aldenard.

I've always assumed Eorzea wasn't so much the name of a landmass but more a geopolitical name for the loose confederation of city-states that make up Eorzea; not quite a country, but more than just totally independent governments. I do think a case could be made for Eorzea being another name for the continent. One way or the other, you are correct; it is not the name of the planet. The name of the planet is the same name as the mothercrystal (sorry, I don't wish to misspell it :3).

Yeah, I always considered it more of a territory/region too, not a continent.

The planet is Hydaelyn.

Well lets hope FFXIV finally give us what FFXI never did at that is let us finally go to and see The Far East... or in XIVs case Doma.. Im ready to finally see a Japanese looking setting and what better place than the place where the Ninja (Yugiri) and Samurai (Gotetsu) comes from? Ala Mhigo doesnt look like it fits the bill quite so

I'm still kind of shocked that we never get to explore the Tavnazian ruins in FFXI. Biggest missed opportunity of all time!

But yeah, I'm stoked for the new XIV expansion. Obviously, I don't play for the same reasons as folks like Hio. I just love the game, its world and my FC mates. I'm excited to get out there, experience a new storyline and adventure in new lands.

AND I'm excited for the red mage job! Totally going to hang up my bow and arrow and get serious about making red mage a true second job.

Three months until the expansion, and then three more months until college football. Life is good.

You get to go to Reisenjima in FFXI, even though it's just a bamboo forest with some Far Eastern "ruins" at the end of it.

Still, you can't say you can't go to the Far East when you can.

Well from what I saw in the Samurai Trailer all I can say is having a "chinatown" like district in a major city isnt the same as having a full fledged Asian inspired city (and possibility surrounding area) and considering they claim Ala Mihgo is a desert I expect it to look more like Thanalan then some asian influenced area

*sigh*

Minor technicality and a rather poor one at that.

Surely you can do better than that?

That's like me saying "WoW never let me get to see Sargeras's Tomb!" because I quit prior to Legion.

It isn't that you never "got" to go to the Far East, you chose not to.

We're literally going to (fantasy) Japan

Forced by someone other than SE, I assume?

There is actually, not a lot of catch-up to do. Once you get Lv99 and a suit of 117 starter armor handed to you (yes, it's handed to you), you can then go and steamroll all the missions. If you had Promathia done at the very least, getting to Reisenjima is not that hard. The main roadblock is progressing Promathia far enough to open up that part of the Rhapsodies questline (and if you go too far, you gotta go all the way up to Sea, before you get another opportunity lol).

But if you've got Promathia done, you've got most of the work done as far as Rhapsodies goes. A few rather easy missions for a Lv99+117 character and you'll be in Reisenjima... of course, with Lv117 gear, you'll get your sorry b*tt handed to you by mobs right inside of Reisenjima, but meh. You can still visit the place and go 'ooo' and 'aaah'.

forced by the fact that the game isnt free to play and i no longer had the means to pay for it at the time thus couldnt. Also my goal if nothing else would be to do EVERY SINGLE piece of story relate content... that includes rhapsodies so would minimum gear would I need to solo or at least be useful in a party for that? how long would it take to get? What about getting to level 99 and capping all my merits.. how long would that take (already at 75)

I obviously dont expect you to know exact numbers but how many hours would you estimate weer looking at for 75-99 then completing WoTG, moogle kupo detat, shanttotto accessions, seekers and ALL of rhapsodies (also abyssea if i has a story but last i checked it doesnt). That would be my only goal before re-retiring

Well, 75-99.... I dunno, 20ish? 25? Depends on how fast/good you are, how well geared you were at 75, how fast you can adapt to the new systems, etc.

The mini addons, I really don't know. Couldn't tell you.

Rhapsodies... some of those cutscenes are not exactly short. Seekers is going to kill you, you can't go anywhere with its MSQ until you've done 80 Imprimaturs. Said Imprimaturs replenish at 1 per 6 hours and you can hold 15 at any given time, so that's a rather beefy time-gate. But you can just let them build in and log on and just do a few every couple days or something until you get enough.

Here's a better idea:

I restarted in November '16. About Late-Jan to Early-Feb I was almost at the end of Rhapsodies, though I did a lot of side-junk, crafting, etc. Probably playing like 10 or so hours a week.

I was 99 when I started, but I had zero or almost zero ToAU/WoTG stuff done whatsoever, and I hadn't even touched Adoulin or Rhapsodies when I re-started in November.

"Better idea" = "Better idea of how long it would take".
