Kao - My wife and I can't get the skills window to open on any of our characters on the 2 new computers. I looked for the solution you gave earlier about changing the values in the .ini file, but could not find anything that said skillwindow. I'm certain it there somewhere and I just dont know whereto look for it. If your back from the holidays, please-a little help to the old guy.

Alright, 2 ways you can fix this. The easiest way is to just find charactername-Servername.ini and delete it for the characters that are broken. For example, for me, my file is:
Kaolian_bertox.ini

Once you find that file for each one of the characters, open it in notepad:

You will see a section like: (1280x1024 is my screen resolution you will see yours) (you can use edit:find to find the skillswindow section)

That looks like:
[Skillswindow]
XPos1280x1024=0
YPos1280x1024=0
Width1280x1024=0
Height1280x1024=0

That should look something like this:
[Skillswindow]
XPos1280x1024=259
YPos1280x1024=135
Width1280x1024=300
Height1280x1024=240

just make sure the = value is not a 0 and you will be fine.

Pleez be careful with the directions on this post!

Look for UI_(charactername)_(servername).ini

NOT (Charactername)_(servername).ini

Two different files, and only the UI_charactername_servername.ini file deletion will fix this problem.

Oops, yeah, sorry about that. he is correct.

Edit: just a quick note, deleting the other file does not delete your character, it just loses all your button presets.

Thanks Kao - fixed both of the computers. Do you have any thoughts as to what would cause that to happen to all the characters on both of the new boxes at the same time? I dont guess it really matters since the promblem is fixed - I'm just a curious kind of guy that likes to know what makes things tick>

PS: I didn't find a "skillswindow" on characters that we normally dont play on those 2 boxes and the wife couldn't open window when she went in with one of those characters. Any thoughts on that - or will that window be in the file if I were to go back and look for it.

There was a problem with the character creator subroutine that would cause new files made during that specific time frame to have that error. THey have since fixed it. The skills window needs to be present in all of those files, so if it is missing, there is something wrong. Delete the file and let it recreate itself

Thanks for the info Kao - am at work but will take care of that this evening. I assume that the file recreates during log-in, or do I need to do an complete file check to get it to be recreated. (poor grammer)
