Honestly, I don't want everyone to be micromanaged to the point that we're only playing with people in our timezone. That would suck for people who work odd shifts, and can't be online when the vast majority of everyone else is.

The issue I face over in EST is if too many others in a linkshell are PST, events won't start til 10PM.

Even with our events starting at 8PM EST , there's always some PST folks who want me to come NNI with them at midnight. Smiley: frown

I find that what usually happens is most linkshells go by EST hours, and we PSTers are just S.O.L.

But, we're all used to it.

The whole sorting people by jp/na/eu and then even further into timezones is a really troubling concept for me. I live in the United States and am a native english speaker so obviously, if asked to choose, I would pick a NA server but the times I am able to regularly log on are oftentimes non-peak hours. My schedule is erratic and sometimes I log on at 2, 3, or even 4 in the morning. Sometimes I sneak in a gaming session at 11am or play for an hour or two in the early afternoon. If everyone is segregating themselves based on the 6pm to midnight "prime time" then people like myself get the shaft unfortunately. Finding a JP party in XI or even in XIV 1.0 may have taken a bit longer but at least it was an option. I made some amazing friends in XI who were from Japan and New Zealand and some of the most successful parties i ever participated in were during off peak hours. If everyone sorts themselves like people are suggesting then our servers will be populated for 4-6 hours a night and then become ghost-towns.

I'll go ahead and throw out an inB4 "well there's always going to be exceptions to the rule and not 100% of the server will be on prime-time all of the time" because yes, there will be some JP on English servers and vice versa, there will be some east coast people on west coast servers and vice versa, but if we continue to try to separate ourselves so diligently I feel it is going to do some serious harm to the community and ostracize a decent portion of the playerbase.

I am EST and have experienced what Catwho is describing. It is the main reason I can't stay involved with active end game shells. However, if we made a shell with both EST and PST folks, we could have events going on both time zones and people could join whenever. I don't know if we will be able to get everyone on the same server but it would be cool to know if my schedule were messed up or I missed the EST event I could do the PST event.

I have always been at odds with people in my linkshell. Back in 11 the whole LS was in PST with 2 of us in EST. They knew the time difference for us and didn't have a problem with us not making events due to work, sleep ..etc. All they asked is if you are online and they are having a event to make it to there for the amount of time your online.

When I started WoW it was with the same linkshell that I played FFxi with and like 11 they knew what my schedule was and didn't have a problem with it. There were times I stayed up rather late camping NM's or doing raids for the guild when I could.

It won't matter to me what time frame I join on the Legacy servers, there will always be a linkshell that is understanding of the difference and won't have a problem with it. If i miss a event there will be other times I can make it or join in a PUG that is looking for someone. Thought the whole idea on doing this was to have everyone on the same server not so much the same linkshell.

i think this is more so for those who actually have A.D.D. and gots to have things done right now... it puts all of them together so they can participate in a constant talking party of go getters ;P
