Has anyone experimented with cross-class skills in Beta 3?Follow

Hey all,

I will refrain from my opinion about Beta 3 and the game at this point of time, because it can summed up to: I liked what I saw.

But I still have many more things to see, at the puny Lv. 10 I managed to reach this time around with my THM :)

I have a question:

Do you have any idea how cross-class skills work this time around? Say, if you are a THM and would like to have, oh I don't know, Lancer skills, how would you go about it?

Level up <new class> first, then once this new class reaches Lv. 10 you can use some of its skills while being THM again? Do you have to change your gear, as THM, to have access to those new skills from <other class>? And I suppose that any cross-class skill is not as 'potent' as using it with the class it's originally intended for, am I right in this?

Cheers =)

Each class has certain abilities and attacks that can be used cross class. On your ability menu you can see the class requirements to use an attack/ability on each job you unlock.

With cross classing you unlock more cross class slots as you level up. You initially start with one.

To equip them you simply go to your ability menu, click the icon of the class the ability is located and then it is like a check box sorta. You click the ability and drag it to your action bar. Or equip it on ps3 sorta.

You can use cross class slots at level 1 once you unlock the other classes. ATM you have to get to 10 obviously to unlock other classes. But in beta 3 I leveled thm and pug with cure/protect. Makes it easier.

As for potency I have not noticed a reduction, but then again most the cross class stuff I done have been abilities. Well I take that back sorta. Cure on pug is really weak compared to the mage classes.

Yoshi has said that Disciple of War & Disciple of Magic will not intermix with the exception of some of the core Conj abilities (Cure & Protect). Basically WSs can be mixed between fighting classes and spells between casters, but you won't see a pugilist with fire, stone, and aero.

How does the stat building work switching classes? I lvled a GLD to 15, and was putting points into STR and VIT mostly, but if a switch to something else, will those points go away, or will they stack and I'll get more to add as the new class lvls? Like, is each class independent regardless of what I used stat points on with a previous class?

I am curious about this as well. I'm assuming it reverts back to base and each class runs their own attribute chain.

I hope so, I would be bummed to lvl a STR class, then find out that it would make a magic type class weak because I put no points into INT.

From what I have read from several people, supposedly, the bonus stats are on a per-class basis. I can't confirm that as the beta's down obviously but others that leveled a few classes to at least level 10 should able to comment.

The bonus stats are for that class only and don't carry over when you switch classes, so there's not much point beyond stacking your main stat for that class (i.e int for THM, mind for CNJ etc.)

I haven't read anything on this yet but my concern would be power vs acc. As a pug I am finding myself trying to find a balance rather than simply stacking str or dex. I have some researching to do.

Sometimes in potency, sometimes it's just a duration reduction.

EG, I leveled up my Archer after my Lancer, and the Lancer Slow skill on my Archer still had full effect (20% attack speed / ws reduction) but lasted 10 sec instead of 20.
