Interesting glitch on PS3 Beta?Follow

Well, maybe not glitch... but something strange happened during this Beta weekend. During a random FATE event, I lost connection to the Playstation Network, and yet everything continued on as normal. No pauses, lag, disconnects - nothing. Shortly after, however, a friend who was also on the PS3 beta was also disconnected from the PSN, but he was immediately booted from the Beta and ended back on the XMB.

Thoughts?

I had the same thing happen to me, message popped up saying I was disconnected then the XMB popped up (and it was simi-transparent so I could still see the game... and for some reason my GLA was running around in circles) and and started trying to log me back in unsuccessfully. I will add this though, I was not booted from the game, just lost control of my character while the XMB was up.

Something like that happened to me, but I thought it was just cold servers and a blessing lol... I got disconnected from the PlayStation network, and while I was signed out I was running around like normal, but the mobs and players weren't moving, then I thought I was gonna get a server disconnect and get booted but I didn't. I just signed back in the Psn and then was immediately back to fighting. LOL

Should we complain about this? Smiley: tongue

Was the FATE really busy (tons of people in the same area)? It reminds me of a problem the 360 had with besieged in FFXI, with that much going on, a lot of 360 users would get booted in the middle or end of besieged because of it.

I know this happened to me a lot in DCUO on PS3, basically they say it's a requirement to be on PSN, but you could still log in when PSN was down, and wouldn't get booted when it went down... (Assuming the DCUO servers were still up.)

PSN might not be an actual requirement for MMO's that have their own servers independent of PSN if this is happening on FFXIV too. Obviously for online games that are using PSN's servers that would not fly.

The possibility of PSN not affecting independently run servers makes sense actually, but it doesn't account for why my friend who also lost connection to the PSN was instantly booted from the entire beta itself. He didn't lose his entire internet connection - I asked him about it shortly after he logged back in and he said it was just his PSN.

Could it vary depending on what your doing in the game perhaps? I'm not actually sure what he was doing at that time, but he definetely wasn't in that FATE with me. As for that FATE, no there weren't too many people there. It was the fate with Bubbly Bernie... the giant snipper/crab/thickshell/king arthros/etc thing that everyone had to gang up on, but I only saw like 7 or 8 other people there.
