Ok if it was discussed in another thread i am sorry and if you can direct me to that so i can read it you can lock this thread.
So i am a bit confused/curious about the materia system.
In the last beta i was able to get a few armor pieces that had sockets for materia. So my question is where do i get materia from? I know or i think i know that you craft them but what job makes them? I am curious cause i want to start making some once Friday comes to try it out.

They come from armor that has been spirt bouned to you, you then turn that into materia, the item is destoryed but you get the materia, you learn materia melding from getting a crafting class to the right level and do a quest, to put the materia in the item you need an item you get from gathering classes, i dobt know how to spell the items name. Hooked on phonics taught me how to read but it shot my spelling right in the foot!
Edit you can get materia from any soul bounded item not just armour is what i ment!

Nice do you know at what level you need to have the crafting class? I mean i got 1 at 10 at the moment.

hmmm I would bet even higher now... Tho I have not tried it... It just seems as if materia is for a lil higher lvl players armor.

Yes, in the spirit of what the devs have done I can't imagine they'd block you off from making materia when they give you slots so early. Gear came with slots ~15, so I'd venture that around level 15 of a craft you'd be able to do the quest at least. How's that for optimism and assumption?

Here are a few links to info that should explain everything you need to know about materia.
Here's a guide to the v1.0 materia system. You can ignore all the old types of materia, but how you make materia hasn't changed and you'll still need to complete a quest to do it. http://www.disciplesoftheland.com/forum.aspx?g=posts&t=617

Yeah thats what i was thinking, i just saw that the bronze arnour had two slots for materia i believe, lvl 15 sounds it be just right!
