Hi everyone,

I haven't played FFXIV since the first few months of the initial launch and I've read around a bit but not sure on the following: When the game relaunches, will there be servers that are just for new players (everyone at level 1)? Personally, I'd prefer to start on a server where most folks are new (or relatively new) and learning. I thought I remember reading that this would be an option but haven't seen anything in a long while.

Game launch is Aug 27th

there are new servers and "legacy" servers. If you have a character from the old version is goes on the legacy servers. The New servers are for new characters only.

Just have to ask, since beta phase 4 is carried over to the launch, if i start a new guy in beta phase 4 will he still be put in the new servers?

It depends, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You can

1) Start fresh and join a preexisting (legacy) world with a 1.0 established economy that will get tweaked a bit but wont collapse.

2) Keep your few month old character or whatever it was when you quit and stay in a legacy server.

3) The better option that sounds like what you want. Start as a new character and join a new, fresh, reset, world that will have ZERO economy and everyone is level one. Now, that world will have vets but they have to reset at level 1 and no money. You might have people who know how to play but you will also have new people that have no idea how to play, starting from level 1, together.

The only outlier for option 3 is the amount of players that create a new character in Beta Phase 4 and Early access. Those players will be allowed to keep their data. A potential month head start but not the 2 years of 1.0 that legacy worlds will carry over.

Make sense?

Sign up here for the Beta, everyone will be allowed to play in phase 4, with an SE account.

data from phase 4 will be carried over unless something horrible happens and they need to reset.

True story.

In addition, all data for PvP will rest and a few things like this. Personally, I wont be doing much other than shifting gear, selling stuff, getting retainer set up, etc., etc.

If a bug hits all could be reset and that would suck.

Thanks! I actually got into the beta for Phase 3 but was having an issue getting the launcher to work which I resolved on Sunday (so I couldn't test anything). I don't recall doing any PvP when I played - I thought I remember talk of some competitions in the Uldah area though. Are the servers consistent in terms of PvP?

I'll be going with option 3 most likely - I'd prefer to start fresh.

PvP wont be implemented for awhile and when it is it will be a "arena" like PvP. No open world PvP and such. Really we dont have much idea what it will be like just have to wait and see.

Aren't we going to test PvP, arena, in Phase 4? Wasn't that the plan? The open area one won't happen for a while I bet, 2.2 or something, patch that is.

http://arrstatus.com/ this lists all of the servers currently, however they may end up having to create more by launch. The ones listed as legacy will have characters from 1.0 while the ones simply labeled Japan, North America, and Europe will be fresh start servers. Legacy characters will not be able to transfer over to the fresh servers for 6-12 months.

I think a lot of people in this forum that are starting over are going to be on the Ultros server. At least that's the one we are all on for the Beta.
