No, we're in Phase 3, part 3.

It seems after you have finished your company quest(~level 20), you can instant level 15 by talking to these NPCs as the correct class.

Swaenhylt in Camp Drybone(Eastern Thanalan) for Thaumaturge

Wihtred in Hyrstmill(North Shroud) for Conjurer

Aniud in Hawthorne Hut(East Shroud) above the town for Lancer

Chechezan in Horizon Camp(Western Thanalan) for Gladiator

Zacheus in Little Solace (East Shroud) for Archer

Urswyrst in Moraby Drydocks(Lower Noscea) outside gate near Chocobo Porter for Marauder

Adelard at the South Hammer(Western Thanalan)(20,27) for Pugilist

thanks hankshmi, so what we play this weekend will be wiped. So let me get this right, after finishing a quest at 20 I can gain another 15 levels by speaking with the appropriate npc?

how about going from like 20-25 anything like that or is there just quick leveling for those jobs to 15?

Not exactly, what you do this weekend will be wiped when phase 4 starts.

I believe the NPCs are Wandering Minstrels.. I'll have to go and do this this weekend since I got a couple classes to 20 already.

I also read somewhere that there are NPCs that will raise you from 27-29. I think it might be to close a gap between dungeons or something.

Yes your characters will still be here throughout the remainder of phase 3.

You can go from level 1 to 15 on any (and every) job by talking to the NPCs listed. So you could go 1-15 on say, THM, but you couldn't level THM to 20 and then go 20 to 35.

You can go from 26 to 29 by talking to the Wandering Minstrel, located outside of the Grand Companies in every major city. There might be a pre-req (I believe you have to complete the Maw of Toto-Rak dungeon).

I assume these NPCs are just for the betas? That they will go away when the game launches?

Yeah. They're in place right now to help players test out specific systems, like cross-class abilities, etc.

The option to level boost will end when Phase 3 does, or the small corner of the internet that FFXIV inhabits will self-implode.

Naturally, they are only for phase 3. They'll be abolished in phase 4 and there will be no similar mechanism in open beta or release. There are a number of items that should change once open beta rolls around (probably decrease available ingredients at crafting guilds, class balancing, battle mechanic adjustments(?), etc.)

Edit: I see someone beat me to it.

ah that makes sense. So at level one i will find this npc and become 15 and begin my journey. this is very helpful as i was to see other races and how they move

No, you have to get to level 20 and finish the relevant quests, then you can auto level your other jobs to 15.

I hope they rework cure when it is cross-classed. as of right now there is no reason to bother with it. It already scales on healing power, i don't see why it needs nerfed so bad cross classed.. unless that is because of the healing power...

Cure wasn't that bad cross classed. I was able to heal the tank in the dungeon when the healer was far away and we didn't die. I mean I wouldn't be able to do it for long due to mana and less heal but still it was helpful.

Second Wind is a pretty great cross-class ability if Cure isn't your thing.
