Beta progress carry over questionFollow

I have been staying away from the beta because I want to have that new game feeling when everything launches but I have seen a a few posts suggesting character progress carry over from beta to launch. At what beta phase does this carry over start? I was a 1.0 CE legacy member so I was already prepared to get in earlier than my friends who are just now getting into the game at the launch of ARR but if my progress in the beta will be transferred to the launch client I may start sooner than that. I'm sure this information is posted elsewhere but ty in advance for helpful responses.

Progress may (MAY) carry over from Phase 4 Beta. They did say there is still a chance they will wipe progress from it though. Progress at your own risk during that time.

You'll be able to join the open beta, which is also known as Phase 4 starting sometime in August.

Speculation is that the beta will begin sometime around Friday, August 9th.

Beta P4 will be about a week, then there will be a few days off for them to make any last minute fixes before the early play on the 20th for people who pre-ordered.

P4 is where the information will be saved and carried over to launch then? I have beta access now, I got in on each phase since 1 I just neglected to play for more than 10 minutes because I didn't want to burn myself out on doing things I would just have to do over once the official release came out. But if my progress during the beta will be saved and carry over to the launch version I may as well get started now :D Does phase 3 progress get saved or just phase 4?

Ahh ok, this is what I was looking for. If its not official 100% they WILL carry this information over I am just going to wait til the early access period and save that brand new game feeling for when I'm sure it will count ^^;

our phase 3 progress was not saved and from my understanding the phase 4 progress will be carried over... however seeing an admin say otherwise is making me second guess what SE has previously stated...

That IS what SE previously stated. Before the beta even began, the roadmap said that there was a chance a data wipe would be necessary even in phase 4.

In my opinion though, the chance of that actually happening is low (though not zero).

They always said it was their intention to carry it over unless something happened that caused them not to be able to.

It's a safety on their behalf. The odds of it happening are very, very low. BUT, if there was something gamebreaking, and they DID have to wipe, after saying "P4 will carry over", people would be furious.

Hence "P4 will carry over into early release/live release barring any unforeseen occurrences requiring a wipe"*

*Not their actual wording but I'm at work and can't track it down. That is however the gist of it.

It carries over as long as some snitch doesnt report an exploit.

Don't worry they won't reset or wipe unless it is Armageddon. You wouldn't want to wipe when so many people are playing doesn't matter if you already said it wasn't 100%. Not in today's world.

Clearly you haven't played any game made by Sony Online Entertainment, thank GOD this is SquareEnix, I never thought I'd be so happy to be back to a SquareEnix title in my life!

EQ/Vanguard/EQ2 I don't remember ever an actual wipe. I remember rollbacks like an hour or two.

No worries there! Prepare to be astounded by how many thing have been changed/scrapped/redesigned from 1.0.

I think they saved the character models and an icon or two.

I personally planned on putting in some work in Phase 4 in hopes that the data is saved.

I think the wipe is a safeholder "cover your ***" statement, if you will. If it's absolutely necessary to revert/wipe character data due to a glitch or critical error, they have the ability to do so.

Given how smooth Phase 3 has gone though, it's very unlikely. Unless something is wrong with Arcanist or some new P4 feature where there's some giant exploit found.

Aren't we all waiting to take advantage of the exploits in phase 4??? :p

I remember early in 1.0's life there was an exploit involving Conjurer where it could get EXP by simply getting a mob and healing yourself when it hits you. Some people got level 50 and S-E banned some of the offenders. This was back when you got EXP just via skilling up.

I remember this well, as SE's solution was the final straw for me. Immediately after the exploit, they nerfed cnj xp so hard that I was seriously lagging in xp gains during party play. I rage quit 1.0 after a particularly fruitless session where we had a very large group, 12 I think, and the other cnj and I were 2 levels behind everyone else whem the session was over. I would very much appreciate any known exploits getting corrected before release.
