Does anyone have a list of macro commands that are available in ARR?
#2 Jul 22 2013 at 2:25 PM Rating: Excellent
If you're in the beta you can see this:

http://forum.square-enix.com/ARR-Test/threads/36955-Instruction-Manual-for-Beta-Test-Phase-3-%28Windows%29?p=686800&viewfull=1#post686800

If not, I'm not going to type that out Smiley: tongue

Darn, I downloaded it as a file, but Zam only takes images. Can't help you, and its very long, and supposedly not the least of it.

Thanks, I hadn't read the beta manual though I have got it downloaded somewhere. I can start thinking about preparing a few macros for when phase 4 starts. I hope I'll be able to dump them into a text file somewhere so I don't have to restyle them all.

Speaking of macros... I am wondering if it is possible to use the keyboard macro set with a controller rather than using the crossbar set that is provided for the controller?

I tried to figure this out for quite a while on the last day of beta but wasn't able to make it work, so I'm thinking it may not be possible without some sort of extra keybinding software?

From what I've gathered, you can have them DISPLAYED on the screen... I saw a SS somewhere with the controller bar, and then other bars. (Presumably was using a Mouse aswell, be it on PS3 or he was using controller on PC).

But to be able to use the normal bar with a controller... I don't think there is. Unless you were to use a controller in "Mouse mode" but that would be horrible.

But, the way it worked in FFXI.... trigger, scroll L/R to desired macro... No(t at this time).

You could use the controller in mouse mode, if you have your controller macros memorized (which wouldn't be unheard of actually).

You can change the keybind of a keyboard and use it for your macros. There are 2 keybind sets, the first one is already set up, but you can edit it and there is a blank second set.

My plan is to put all my macros on keybind #2.

Crafting, I'll put my macros it on the controller it the empty slots available.

Yeah I suppose that's ultimately what I was getting at, I was hoping to use the macros like they were in XI. I much prefer the option to have 20+ commands displayed at one time, to the crossbar which limits you somewhat to eight, albeit you can switch between them fairly easy... it's just not convenient in battle to be switching between crossbars.

Would doing this allow me to access the macro sets via the controller? I've never actually played an MMO on a keyboard rig before so I'm completely clueless for the most part...

Um no. When you make a macro, you have the option to put it on the controller, whichever set you want. However, it does'nt automatically go to the controller unless you take the extra step to put it there.

Hmmm, I suppose that wouldn't be exactly what I'm looking for then.

I wish there was a way to access the macrobar by linking it to a controller button. Such as, as said before, pressing RB brings up to macro list.

It's 16 isn't it? Unless you're not really counting the D-pad.

Otherwise L+D = 4
R+D = 4
L + ABXY = 4
R + ABXY = 4
=16

Then tapping RB flips between two quick access ones, so by the time GCD is over, you really have access to 32 slots.

I'm guessing you're on PS3 otherwise you wouldn't be asking this stuff. However, if you ARE by chanc eon PC just using a controller... You would always hope for some third party. It's looking like they might be more supportive this time. Kind of a shot, but you never know.

Also, if you were on PC, you could actually do what you are trying to do... albeit in a roundabout way. But actually getting it to flow would be weird.

Honestly, they way they implemented controller this time around is pretty slick once you get used to it.

Sorry yes it's 16, I meant 16 and accidentally typed 8.

NW, and just remember that clicking on "RB" (or what I would guess is R1) on the controller quickly flips between set 1 and 2, so like I said before, by the time GCD cooldown, you actually have 32 abilities. And I highly doubt you will ever need that many that quickly. (Abilities unaffected by the GCD not withstanding, but honestly, with 32 available, you could even have non GCD abilites on both "1" and "2" of you were that picky.)

Depending on how willing you are to swap hotbar sets, you can have more than just 32 abilities and macros. The limit is 128, but I don't see anyone carrying more than 3 sets worth into battle. With the updates presented in this thread on the beta forums, switching sets should be even more streamlined. It will be nice having battle and non-battle hotbars on different rotations.

If I remember it correctly the (cross-)hotbar sets are also class specific. Each class has its own set of hotbars.

This is true. The only downside was having to delete the default set 8 from every single class.

The thing is that one button quickly changes between set 1 and 2. For more than that, you have to manually toggle through. Hence why I said "quick access" to 32 abilities. Overall, yes, you have access to a lot more.

While not available in P3, there is an option to "Share Hotbars", so you can share, for example, Hotbar 10 between all your classes. Nice for things like Job swaps, potions, warp, teleport, etc etc.

In phase 3, my controller was cycling through every hotbar set available. If I had three made, it would go through each one and not just the first two. It's the reason why I made the comment about set 8. In phase 4, they're making it so that you have two separate rotations depending on whether or not your weapon is drawn. These rotations aren't limited to just two sets.

Are you on PS3 or PC? I was on PC using 360 controller and one way cycled through all the bars, and another one only switched quickly between 1 and 2, even though I had 4 populated. I say it was RB as far as I remember, but that may have been cycle and another button was tab between 1 and 2.

I was on the PS3 which would explain the difference. Either way, they're changing it for the better. I'm pretty excited to see how the new setup works out.

I am so klutzy that my trying to do the controller on my ps3, I ended up zooming in and changing the targeting, unable to see the mob (an nm) as it destroyed me.

I'm hoping to get better with practice, a lot of practice, hours and hours, at least that's my excuse to play so much once it comes out.
