FFXIV: ARR - Beginner's GuideFollow

#1 Aug 22 2013 at 12:37 AM Rating: Excellent
I've been doing quite a bit of digging and consolidating data from both in-game experience and different fansites, and I've come up with a pretty comprehensive Beginners Guide for FFXIV: A Realm Reborn.

Please take a look at let me know what you think!

Great job. I think a lot of people could benefit from this. I dare say it deserves to be stickied.

Solid guide, maybe you might want to add a section that shows rookies how to get the quest based actions like dye, materia melding/creating, etc...

I believe that the requirements for White Mage is Conjurer 30 and Arcanist 15 and NOT Gladiator 15 as it is stated in your guide...

Besides that great guide with lots of useful information!

I'll definitely be updating the classes, jobs, and class skills information as soon as I can after launch. A lot of the guide information for those sections was directly pulled from the Lodestone, which is even run by Square Enix. Given that they don't even have the most up-to-date information, it's hard to find other reliable sources that do. Hopefully once early head-start begins we will be able to nail down the correct info! ;)

OK, updated the class requirements for jobs that have changed since the original guide.

I've also added in some general information about the dungeons and Primals. I'll work on it some more tonight to see if I can flesh out the last few sections that are missing from the guide.

Thanks everyone for reading / responding! ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong but you get a skill slot every 5 levels, not 10. You have 10 at 50, 5 on a job.

Also, the job/class section is still a little off. You have Bard as Archer 30 Pugilist 15 in Part 4 but in Part 6 you have Archer, Conjurer, Lancer for the skill pool.

Otherwise, fantastic job. Rate up!

Well, I think I have the guide "done" more or less! The updated version should be available on my original post.

Once FFXIV launch has arrived (only a few hours left!), we should hopefully get a better look at Housing and PvP, and I will add those sections to the guide as information is confirmed.

Thanks for reading! ;)

Quick question, should you be expected to have Paladin ready if you play as Gladiator?

@aadrenry

I guess that really depends on your Free Company or group that you normally game with. For example, in my guild (www.cotp.info) we have not placed any requirements on which jobs that our members have available. Obviously if you start looking at endgame raiding and whatnot the roles are going to be more specialized, but I don't think you necessarily *must* have Paladin as an option if you play Gladiator.

Some people I'm sure will play the entire game as one class with many cross-class skills as opposed to a specialized job.

Updated with a few changes since Beta 4 / Early Head Start.

- Black Mage requirements changed to 30 Thaumaturge / 15 Archer

- Removed info regarding "Bonus Levequests" as these are apparently not in the live version of the game.

- Removed the information stating that one could not change their Free Company, as this has been proven to be incorrect.
