Levequests and SubclassesFollow

Hi There,

Just a question that I can't seem to see answered anywhere. Hopefully someone will have some idea.

If you complete a load of levequests on a high character. Can you turn these in as a low level character? So for example doing a load of levequests on a level 30 lancer and turning them in on a level 5 pugalist?

Obviously I can understand the experience being lowered to the appropriate level.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

You can only turn them in on a class that would have been eligible to accept & complete it in the first place.

Hello there,

Apologies but I cannot answer your question directly, but I can tell you what I do know.

I noticed whilst doing story quests that I was getting around 4k xp for a 5mins quest..,,and it takes 300xp to lvl as a lvl1.
So I picked up say like a lvl16 story quest as Paladin, did the quest and attempted to hand it in
as a lvl1 Arcanist. I was interested to see that a red cross appeared above the NPC when i changed jobs, so I could not hand it in.
This suggests they "lock" the quest to the job that the quest was started with.

This works in reverse, for example, obviously as a lvl1 you can not start a lvl16 story quest.

Now I realise Leves are different but I think the same rule would apply.
Leves are sorted into level sections, eg, 10, 20, 30 ect, so you cant pick them up as lvl1, and switch jobs.

Thanks for the replies guys.

So i'm guessing I have to do Leves in the right level range for that character. Makes sense!

I think it's simpler than that. There is a level requirement to finish a quest as well as a level requirement to activate the quest. I've noticed during both Phase 3 and Phase 4 that when I traveled to Gridania to unlock and level CNJ that there were certain quests in the Central Shroud that I could activate before level 10 (I was level 8 at the time, I believe). But when I completed the quest objectives, I saw the red cross on the NPC like you saw. I was CNJ the whole time. When I finally hit level 10, the red cross changed to the usual quest completed icon and I was able to finish the quest.

I'm betting that the quest you were trying to complete has a minimum level requirement for finishing, just like the quests I was doing. That would explain why you couldn't finish it as a lvl 1 class.

I'm not sure why some quests would have a higher minimum level to finish the quest than it requires for flagging the quest. I wonder if it's a bug, and that the two level requirements are supposed to be the same (which would make more sense).

Yup, same thing here. I remember running the "unlock" levequest for one of the Black Shroud outposts as a 14 CNJ, completed the escort, but couldn't hand in the mission until I dinged 15. 2 things I learnt from it:
1) As svlyons stated, there may be a disconnected between acceptance level & completion level needed
2) DO NOT +4 a level 15 levequest as a 14 CNJ ... it doesn't end well. Smiley: rolleyes

The other posters are correct, but to expand on General Questing. You can also accept and complete side-quests on a higher class, then switch and hand it in on a lower class, as long as that job is high enough to hand it in. On top of which and I personally tried this..... If you do a side-quest as I just stated.... even if it involves going out and killing "X" amount of whatever. You can switch to a Crafter/Gatherer and hand it in on those instead. Only requirement is that they are high enough to hand it in. Which can be lucrative for a little extra exp to switch things up.
