Considering Canceling PreorderFollow

Is it too late to cancel my preorder? I am really displeased with the service I have received and would like to express so in the only way that companies will hear it. As much as I want to play this game one of the selling points and validations to me paying an extra $20 for the 4 strings of code i get with the Digital CE was the Early Access Period. It is now painfully obvious that I will be unable to play during the majority of this period, thus making my reasons for paying an extra $20 for essentially moot. Maybe I'll downgrade to a regular copy or something, but that extra $20 was not worth it at all.

Oh god please do it.. Just do it.

I was thinking of getting the CE version but I think they will be more down the line. Good thing I didn't. I'm not sure but with the crazy downtime maybe you can.

Early access was free, where are you claiming that you had to spend an extra $20? You can buy the game now during the pre-order period for $30 and get the pre-order bonuses including early access or you can wait until official launch and pay $30 for the game and not get the bonuses. Its a bummer things arent working out exactly how we wanted but claiming to have spent extra money for early access is just outright incorrect.

You have until the 27th, before orders ship or downloads become accessible on your respective gaming company's site to cancel, so far as I know.

So only CE's had access to EA? I pre-ordered this morning after getting all the info from these forms that I needed, I HAVE a EA code in my inbox, but care not. Unless a mass majority of the population took the next week off work/school, I assume I'll have the free time to catch up (I did take vacation time, but not for this game. It is just going to be 90+c out for the next few days and I don't do well with heat so I've re-planned my time off)

I went with the CE for all the other extra goodies...being able to play a few days early for free is a ...

to me. But the other cool stuff (imo) made the 20$ more tag worth it.

I don't know how you bought the game. If through Amazon you will be able to go an cancel it. You have not been charged yet, i assume for buying it ( at least Amazon has not charged me yet, the pre-order page said it would on Tuesday).

I never claimed I had to pay for it, if you read what I said I simply stated that while deciding on what version to buy I allowed myself to be swayed into buying the CE because I figured "well hey, they are giving us early access too, so why not?"

You got early access whether you bought the CE or the non-CE regardless. So yeah, moot point entirely. I paid $20 extra for the CE because I like squenix's products very much and have for some 20 years and feel they're worth supporting that much more. I hope that that extra $20 from myself and everyone else enables them to get more folks and more activity going on making the expansions to come even better. I hope that it enables them to develop more products that I will enjoy in the years to come. So yeah. If you don't like the product, don't pay the subscription fee. You bought the game, if you don't like it, that's your prerogative. The fact that you bought the CE instead of the regular edition has nothing to do with anything though.

That should not have been the reason. I bought the Digital CE, so I will not be getting the fancy art book, music cd, or any of the other physical goodies one will get (unless I re-buy the game for ps3/4 and manage to get a CE). I bought the digital CE as a pre-order for all of this stuff:
-Cait Sith doll
-Mog hat
-Helm of Light
-Coeurl mount (major reason. Coeurls have always been my fav FF beast)
-Behemoth choco armor
-Baby B minon (not going to lie, looks so cute it is making me sick)

^ all this was worth the extra money, to me.

I'm thinking what Dam is trying to say is that with all the hard work and the early access to the game regardless of which version you got before the 27th, the $20 is basically for a job well done. But given the whole down time and people on the EU/NA servers can't even play even though its an EA. I'm sure if Dam had known this would happen he might not of gotten a CE version now I guess.

Nope, anyone who pre-ordered it got it, meaning no extra cost involved you're just buying the game early.

I kinda want the coeurl mount and the other goodies from CE status so.. yeah, cancelling pre-order is out for me. Should still be possible for you though, my girlfriend had to cancel her amazon pre-order for CE because they never sent her a EA code

Honestly I don't want to play a game with a bunch of fanboys that downvote EVERYTHING that doesn't tongue the #$%^^%$ of their chosen god. These past couple weekends have really shown me what kind of people are on here.

Sorry Dam, it's nothing against you. It's just that we've been dealing with Killua and Duo for the last six months saying more or less the same things, and we're exhausted.

Not a fan boy, but whining doesn't suit people well. It makes those types look like ********** You don't want the game, don't play it. It won't bug much of anyone, because life goes on. The funny part is you have to goto a forum to announce to the world you 'might' not play. That is the sad and funny part of your existence.

to all of my children in whom life flows abundant...

If you cancel it you can always pick it up again later, hopefully it won't be going anywhere and will be more stable in a month or so.

If you want to play now and just don't care you could always start playing on a JP server, I'm more reluctant to do it myself as I'm in the UK so the distance is pretty harsh.

It's fine cat, We've missed you these past couple months :p. (and the rest of this post isn't really directed at you)

People have every right as consumers to take issue with these problems. SE set themselves up for these problems and there is a large and vocal community of people that seem to feel the need to rush to SE's side and rage and crush all those who say anything bad about their company. First they said that these problems would be fixed after P4, now they are saying they will be fixed by official release. It's starting to remind me of all of those fanboys that said the same exact things about 1.0's launch. I gave them the benefit of the doubt after P4 and even yesterday wasn't that bad but today is terrible. I cannot see how they are going to fix this problem in two days with no downtime in between.

And then I see all of the rampant downvoting and #$%^ talking against anyone that says anything about not being able to log in or that it sucks to not be able to log in. It's not even a karma issue. It's an issue about being an adult. Adults SHOULD be able to disagree and discuss something without the need to downvote every single post someone has made because they don't like what they say. I spent 8ish months on this forum and only ever downvoted one person: Poubelle. I honestly don't even think people really know what the button is for, they treat it as if it is simply a "I don't agree/like what that person said, DISLIKE" button. If you are going to downvote someone grow a pair and state why.

What makes me laugh is the people that are talking about cancelling and whining like my 4 year old when she can't have a cookie after dinner, is about the same people who are whining no stop about how it is "unfair" that Legacy players get the extra benefits because the "stuck it out" during a horrible game.

I anticipate the same thing happening in a few months, they release some special mount for continuous subscription from EA and the people that quit will be coming back after everything is stable crying why can't they have that cool mount.

Not to sound mean but the constant crying is starting to get a little old......

First, 1.0 had a ton more issues than this. This is pretty much very early growing pains, not much unlike WoW experienced. SE knew the game was going to re-launch well, just not this well. Now it's overwhelmed their resources, cropped some nasty bugs, and in general thrown a monkey wrench into the works. And you better believe the dev team is all-hands on deck and going mad trying to find the cause and the resolution ASAP. But, as has been said, they don't wield real magic. Programming, testing, setup of servers, it all takes time, and if that means that they launch in less-than-ideal state, well it's too late to stop that now. My copy of FFXIV is right now in the Gamestop. It's street date is Tuesday, so they won't give it to me early, but that means they launch Tuesday, like it or not.

Adults also realize that this. is. a. game. A game. A video game. And now people are threatening lawsuits. Do you even comprehend how insane that is? OVER. A. VIDEO. GAME. This would be like suing Michael Bay over the Transformers because the money "didn't meet with your expectations". It's utterly, basely retarded. And downvoting? It's so that, eventually, the people who are spamming 3, 4, 5 topics, and tons of post eventually get autofiltered, as per how Alla's karma system works. Their posts are not worth anyone's time, contribute nothing to a valuable discussion, and instead just act as trollbait and visual garbage on the forum.

And you want to know why I rated you down? Because you're joining in the deafening cacophony of whining.
