PSA: Consider EU or JP serversFollow

Tired of 1017 errors?

There's tons of space on both EU and JP servers. What you may not know about EU servers is that they are housed in the exact same building in Montreal as the NA servers. Same servers, same location, different label. And it may surprise you to learn that many in the EU speak English. One of those countries even purports to have invented the language!

JP servers are generally quiet during NA prime time, so this is also a viable option, especially if you're on the Pacific coast (which may result in better ping times than Montreal, oddly enough).

So, if you'd rather be playing than looking at a login screen full of errors, consider this as a viable alternative. You may even make friends with people from around the world while you're at it.

This is good for a short fix, run around and try plowing through those unskippable cutscenes. However, there's still the problem of prime-time. East Coast prime time would be the middle of the night in Europe, and people would just be getting to work in Japan.

I don't think anyone should be rolling outside of their region to be honest. Long term, it'll be pretty difficult to work through end-game content unless you're able to log on at certain times.

Except that you can always server transfer in a couple months when they open it up.

Also there are lots of NA on my JP server as far as I can tell

I thought about this too but transfers aren't going to be free.

And it shouldn't be up to the customer to develop a work around.

The problem with this is, will there be server transfers allowed between data centers? My guess is they will force you to stay in your current data center and only able to move to a realm or lesser population that accepts more characters.

I even ran into an EU player yesterday on one of the JP servers (Atomos). I've had nothing but positive experiences with that server. I'm on the West Coast USA and lag is non-existent. Essentially it's the same quality connection as to the NA/EU server cluster. I imagine that's because my playtime is the middle of the night for Japan, so the servers (especially the Duty server) aren't getting hammered.
