Can I de-activate old security token and register new one?Follow

#1 Aug 27 2013 at 11:54 AM Rating: Decent
I have an old security token from the old FFXIV collectors edition and would like to deactivate this one and use/activate the new security token I got when purchasing the FFXIV ARR collectors edition. Does anyone know if this is possible? If so any help doing this would be most appreciated. :-)

I'm sure it is, you'll probably have to log in to the SE account management site for it:

But why?
I'm using an old token that I attached to my account when playing XI.

Just so you know, if you deactivate it, I think it becomes useless.

I deactivated mine so I could switch to my mobile app.

I was wondering the same thing recently. Like Sandinmygum, I have been using a physical security token I acquired from a copy of FFXI. I've had it attached to my account for years. How long do those little batteries last?
I also have an unused token from the FFXIV 1.0 collector edition that's 3 years old now. I'm stuck in Windows Phone purgatory until next summer, so I won't be able to use a smartphone token anytime soon. Smiley: disappointed

I just did this about 30 minutes ago. I was driving and thinking that SE really should have a mobile app instead of the key chain clicker thing. Since I have FFXIV on my home PC and work PC I didnt want to carry the token with me.

Ditto. Now my old token can become a toy for my toddler. He likes stuff that looks and sounds like keys, and he likes buttons that he can push.

Based on what I am reading in this thread, can I assume that we can't have more than one token active at once? It would be nice to have a backup in case the battery died or I lost one.

True story, but who cares if you have one? It's not like you are going to sell your old one are you? OR you could sell this one and keep your old one.... Well then there is the phone app, that's true.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts on this.

Addyyuna, are you saying that I just need to deactivate my old token and activate the new one, all through the account management page?
