is the helm of light working right?Follow
its supposed to give you an exp bonus before level 10. I have no rested exp bonus and Im lvl 11 I just killed something with normal headgear that was level 12 and got +50% exp then i waited for the chain to die off then equipped the helm of light and killed the same level mob with it equipped and got +80% exp umm am i still getting an exp bonus with helm of light even though i shouldnt be?
It shouldnt. But 10 years of experience with SE and their spaghetti-code tells me it's very possible it simply remains working.
On the other hand, if you have a job that is a higher level than your current job, you do get an EXP bonus to help you catch up to it. That could be it.

Ya, it could be the low level class bonus exp you get. The Helm of Light and Mog Cap stopped giving me bonus exp when I reached level 11.

i heard that exp bonus is only oif your main class is 50 and even if not shouldnt the bonus be a constant number with no chains? i.e i shouldnt get +50% sometime and +80% other times right?
Maybe you're just getting EXP chain bonuses?

The active help for the Armoury Bonus gives an example of a level 30 main with a level 1 second class. Just says the bonus grows the larger the difference between your current class and max class
