What level do you unlock your retainer?Follow
I have a bunch low level gear i dont wanna get rid of because of keeping them to level up other low level classes but my armory chest and inventory are getting full (i doubt ill have enough space to get all 8 classes to 15 at this rate) soo roughly what level will I be able to give this stuff to my retainer?
I think around 15-20 ish? Closer to level 15?
I got it around level 20... main story line if I recall, after Ifrit at some point.
also can you sell excess junk to a retainer? i.e stuff thats too worthless to but on auction but dont want iust clogging your inventory either? kind alike how in FFXI you could NPC certain items for next to nothing.. I notice you cant do that in thi sgame... does a retainer make that possible?

You can NPC stuff you don't want, just move it from your amoury to your inventory and chat up a NPC that sells stuff.
ok one last thing is all the level 1-15 gear in the other two starter cities the same as Uldahs? (havent been outside teh city yet) by the sam eI mean from 1-15 the gear usually is:
All classes (usually cotton items with high mag defense and int or mnd incrases so mostly for mages)
Disciples of War (DD gear)
Heavy Armor (MRD, GLD, PLD, WAR, LNC DRG)
notice theres no THM/BLM CNJ/EHM ARC/SMN/SCH PUG/MNK archer/BRD specific gear... does that start showing up on level 1-15 gear when I go to gridania and limsa or will it be the same stuff Im seeing i Uldah 1-15?

It's after a level 17 quest. It's the "final" quest in the first chain with the walking sands people.
The walking sands girl/leader will say, "As a reward we are giving you a retainer go talk to XYZ in ABC place."
It took me forever to figure out. I don't know why it's not more prominently noted on the internet. I wish I could remember the name of the quest. I think it's this one,

But that might be the first in the 17 chain.
It's after you do three dungeons.

It's a reward for the Main Story quest line right before the Ifrit quest line starts. So ~17ish.
thanks. now that the retainer and npc selling items questions have been taken care of, how about the weapons/armor question?
