Loading up this site while on my Android phone has been an increasingly disturbing experience thanks to unscrupulous ads which exploit the phone. It hasn't been an issue until the past few weeks, and the bad ads have become steadily worse. I've tried different browsers hoping for a solution to this problem, but each have their own issues.
Chrome doesn't seem to display or execute malicious ads, which is good. But unfortunately, in disabling the ad it also causes a display issue where the top portion of the page where the ad would appear is inaccessible, so you can't read the OP or the first few comments.
Firefox, surprisingly, is a real sucker for the worst of it. It happily forwards you to the Google Play Store for whichever wallet-draining application the ad wants you to load. It tries to forward you to attack sites that tell you your phone has a virus, and tries to you get you to open your phone and provide personal data for more attacks. And, most disturbing of all, it forwards you to the ad's **** site without warning, which is really embarrassing when you're out in public. Noscript could help with this, but unfortunately, it's not compatible with the Android version of Firefox.
Dolphin has a bit more control, since it asks you permission for the ad to manipulate your browser before it lets it, which you can decline to allow. However, I've noticed another problem where the ads are constantly reloaded every 2 or 3 seconds even if you leave the phone idle, which eats up my limited monthly download allotment. I don't know if it's the fault of the advertiser or the browser, but it's not something I can abide either way.
Given all these problems, I'm simply going to have to stop using this site from my phone, unless there's some way I haven't considered that would help solve these issues. Has anyone else experienced these problems?
