xiv app regular expressions...Follow

I wasn't able to get this to work. For example, when a target loses a particular dot, I want it to chime.
Like

<mob> loses the effect of Chaos Thrust.

I tried using .* (.*) ".*" to match any text before that part, but nothing works. Is there a special syntax for using regular expressions with xivapp? Please help, it's driving me nuts.
