not a big deal, but haven't been able to find anything related to pausing it.

usually you can even just write to support and state you will be gone for a while and unable to play, and ask if they could pause your account subscription for X amount of days. Might take them a while to respond/do it but IMO wouldn't be hard for them to just verify you didn't log on and then credit your account the amount of time you asked for.

I know in a lot of other games this was possible, as they always seem to understand, and it makes sense to do it and keep a customer.

I don't recall seeing this option in the mog station, perhaps its buried there somewhere. All else fails just write to support, explain clearly what you want, and have fun on vacation. Agree a few weeks isn't a huge deal but there is a good chance you get back and your account will be credited the time you were gone.

Not an option.

You can cancel your account, but your remaining time would still tick down. I'm on vacation myself and unable to play. Actually I can play, but if SE could see the copious amounts of bikini and suntan lotion, there's no doubt in my mind they wouldn't feel bad for me Smiley: sly

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

I'm inclined to agree with Filth. This has never been an option in any other MMO I have ever heard of and don't see SE opening that door. Can you imagine the amount of calls they would get every day by allowing something like this?

SE: "Hello, Square-Enix"

Customer : "Hello SE. Yeah, Ummm, I'm taking my son to school and I won't be able to play for about 20 minu-- Well, lets just say a half an hour now, so I'm going to need my subscription placed on hold. I'll call you back if something changes between now and then, otherwise, yeah, just start service back up in a half an hour. Thank you."

(SE rep in the back ground): "Another one? We need to call a board meeting ASAP!"

It's possible to cancel it and reactivate it later. But not suspend it.

If you will be gone for more than a month and that $15 is the difference between eating and not eating, go ahead and cancel. A lot of college students cancelled FFXI during the semesters to remove the temptation and then just reactivated after finals in December or May.

However, if you're gone for less than a month, then cancelling is not worth it.

What is the difference between suspending and canceling. The process wise. Is there a fee you would have to pay? I'm planning on purchasing the game later today but not sure if I will be committed to pay every month due to school.

Suspend: Pause mid-billing period, resume when you wish to return and continue playing
Cancel: You're paid through the end of the billing period and can access the game until it ends, then you won't be billed again until you re-activate account

SE does not offer account suspension but does offer temporary account cancellation and reactivation with no penalty. I knew many XI folks who will cancel during the school semester, then reactivate during Christmas break and summers.
