I'm already bored of XIV and the problem is I don't want to be bored of it! I'm not sure what there is outside of Leveling/Questing/Fate Grinding/Dungeon Crawling. I'm not sure if there's any mini-games you can play either. I mean leveling got pretty boring, I'm capped off at 47 and going any further with how little exp we get from FATEs (12k Tops for me @ Level 40+ FATES) just puts me to sleep. I don't want this to be like XI where I get everything up to 99, hoarde AF gear and just sit around looking at the scenery. I mean the only issue I am currently having is keeping up on my money, due to teleports being almost 700 per port. (Granted XI was 1-2k Dem/Holla Ports.)

Does anyone know a way to bide my time? I still have 21 days left on my Free Trial. I know there is end-game but pushing for 50 is just not happening for me. I mean I am not lazy, it's just grinding in general just puts me to sleep. I don't mind doing it, but I literally start up FATE grinding look at my character, stare at my screen and then put it down and go watch TV. I don't want to waste money in the coming months if the content isn't going to keep my attention. Does anyone know a reason for this?

It sounds like you don't like the game then, or rather, don't enjoy the game?

Also, there are level 48 FATEs to do, why hamstring yourself grinding level 40 ones?

Take a breather! I feel like I have played a lot, and my highest level is 31. If you feel like your time in XIV has been a grind fest, that's probably because it had been.

I am really trying to keep at least one craft close to my main job, so I can make gear and meld materia for myself. Maybe try that, rather than focus on just grinding one job? You could also just spend time helping people in your linkshell or FC.

It sounds like this game simply isn't for you. You would probably best suited finding a game that more suits your tastes. If you think that FFXIV is a grind, then I think it is safe to assume that MMORPGS as a whole are not for you. This game has an incredibly quick pace to level cap and offers a host of different paths to reach that cap. The game is what...two weeks old? Already you've nearly reached the level cap. That is insane. When FFXI first came out it took a solid year to reach cap. Now THAT was a grind.

Personally I find this game to be incredibly gripping. It's all I think about. The story is immersive. The dungeons are challenging and enjoyable to run. Jobs and classes all feel unique, important, and useful in their own way. Everything is connected extremely well....but this game, much like FFXI, is very very very Japanese. Maybe you just don't get it. Maybe you don't have the palate to appreciate what is shaping up to be a masterpiece.

Do adjustments need to me made? Yup. More content to be added? Yep. Will the game benefit from the addition of more layers and aspects? Uh huh.

The game is 2 weeks old. Future plans for the game have been illustrated in immense detail. If none of that catches your fancy, then saddle up and ride the next whaabulance outta here cowboy. You won't be missed.

Well i can understand him a bit, as long as you have the quest all is fine. But indeed the last 4 or 3 Levels (dont know excat) are real bad, because you cant reach the next lvl only throw questing. With quest you only get the first 20% to the next lvl or something like that. So yea you are forced to do something else, the main choices are Fates, Dungeon and Leaves.

For me it was mainly leaves combined with Fates that poped up nearby and yea it was a boring after a time, but i wantet to reach lvl 50. Worst Thing to lvl are Dungeons i think, they take so long and not every Team is good eneough to complete a dungeon. I Still Need at lvl 50 the Abandon Ruins or how ist called to complete it 1 for a Questline, but i allready get real pissed of it since i tried allready 5 Runs as Tank, and no Team was able to complete it. Most times we wiped at 2nd Boss when the Adds spawnt.

I dont know why but when there is a Thing in this game that real Freaks me out, its the dungeons, i real hate them. To mutch Trash, to less XP, to boring (sometimes it feels like we Need 3 minutes or so for only 1 Trash Group wtf), to long (sometimes 90 or 120 minutes for nothing) and the loot is not that good on normal (especially when you lvl, you dont real Need it).
I real like Dungeons in most other mmos but here it feels like a bad Chewinggum.

Anecdotal, to be sure, but last night I realized exactly how much I enjoy this game. I've been grinding ACN up and was doing finder pugs to break the monotony. Long story short of it, there was a Pld (Mind you, I was grinding up to 30 and up to Haukke Manor) who was trolling by jumping in and out of the finder and abandoning groups.

He did this once before and it completely ruined one party I had been waiting about an hour to get into. The second time he did it, I decided to take action. I whipped out golden carby and, to my great surprise and relief, the rest of the party was willing to stick around. You know what?

WE MADE IT THROUGH THE ENTIRE MANOR. Right up to the final boss, in fact! At the last minute, we decided to get that last bit of treasure upstairs just in case the boss was just unmanageable. We already agreed we had an awesome time in our three man party bucking the odds at every turn. It was one of the BEST GROUPS EVER! Not because we were all awesome (in fact, it was one of the members first time through). It was simply the fact that we refused to wait all that time just to let some complete jackass ruin the fun. We got mad loot all along the way, too.

Well, as fate would have it, there was a kind-hearted if not newish Marauder who was also in the Finder and juuuuuust showed up as we had eaten our Adam's Apples reluctantly taking on the boss fight the first time. The marauder was such a beast that we ended up wiping three more times (Kinda what happens when the bombs are still mucking about when the other adds pop and stick you to the floor. Lots of pain followed by a boom, that is.) But again, we stuck through it. We changed tactics a little bit and we won! We won an instance we rightly had no business winning without a tank and it was all because we grew our skills and understanding of the dungeon together.

But you know what? That wasn't even the best part of the night for me. It was one of the most spectacular experiences of my MMO playing career, but things got even better. I was so inspired by the utter carnage that Mrd was dishing out (essentially making it where the boss was taking so much damage that we were getting adds on top of the bombs and this was after the lamps seemingly double-popped on us!) that I decided to try out a lil bit o' mauradin' myself. Up til now, I've taken all three mage jobs to 30 (biding my time to get to end-game) and never even thought to go with a melee class in any serious manner. Well, as luck had it, a FATE popped on me at the ripe level of 3 or 4 with tons o little squaking sheep bounding down a hill. It was a sleep slaughter-fest with a whole lot of tabbing and a whole lot of killing!

I've fallen in love with a melee class! Had no inkling that I would before yesterday. I wouldn't have even touched Mrd had the day not transpired in any different fashion, but that's exactly what I did and it was pure gaming nirvana!! So, my advice to the OP is to take a day or two off from FFXIV. It is a game, not a job. When you log back in, do so Tabula Rasa. Clear your mind of what feels like a grind to you and, instead, seek enjoyment. Think outside of your box. Try something you thought you just wouldn't even like or at least do something different and new. This game puts so much on the plate and has so many different playing styles. The only reason it has become boring to you is that you have accepted the results you give yourself.

Everything in moderation.

The best way to keep an MMO entertaining for some people is to stop yourself from obsessing over it, or overplaying it to the point that you're sick with yourself for doing it all the time, day in-day out. Take it easy, there is no rush on a game that is online at almost any given time.

When you sign on, aim to do something specific, like some dungeons, gathering, crafting, or storyline. Maybe you have a hunting log that needs to be done... think about it when you aren't online, so that when you do sign on, you have a goal to work towards.

For some people, the reason the game begins to feel like a grind is because they feel like they are playing out of obligation. You aren't. Play when the urge strikes you.

Sounds like you play solo all the time. Find some friends to quest with or switch things up. Pick up a craft job, actually read the quests (the story is great and sounds like your skipping through it. Dont pick up a ff title and expect to not read.), play other dow and dom, do some hunting logs, killing odin, or help others get stuff done. Theres plenty of stuff to do and plenty more coming. Theres pvp, housing (if you watched yoshis housing video youll notice there will be lots of furniture crafting), chocobo breeding, chocobo racing, golden saucer (im pretty sure there wil be mini games.). Theres plans for 2.2 and 2.3 already if they havent started working on it.

Stolp leveling one class and do other stuff man! I havent even started my relic on my 50 drg! There's so much stuff for me to finish!

In regards to the OP, my girlfriend is the same way. She finds FATE grinding extremely boring. She's in Dragonhead currently and I keep telling here to go to the Proc. Plant in North Than for faster/better exp. She tried it and just finds it very boring. She just started back on the main story line and found it rekindled her drive to play. Also, after 3 days of playing, i tend to pull her away from the game and we go out for a day of shopping/dinner and a movie. I find afterwards, she again, builds up some drive to play. I think you may burnt yourself out. I think also you should try and get to 50. I just got here myself this past weekend and doing the HM primals is extremely fun and has given me a whole new reason to play this game.

EDIT: also, in reference to your high tele cost, try joining a FC. We use our FC to reduce the cost of tele's. I have not problem keeping Gil up while teleporting around, i don't have a single crafting job leveled either, all my gil comes from FATEs, quest and collecting those little gold baggies as quest rewards.

I can completely understand the fatigue, as I leveled from 1-46 at the start for Smn, and then got bored of leveling and changed gears to one of my level 50s (legacy) and completed a bunch of the endgame, then crafted, fished a bit, made new friends, etc.

Smn is still only 47, and the game isn't a race. I mean, I raced to get my relic, but now I'll smell the flowers.

I feel the opposite. There's soooooooo much to do.

I'm just hitting 40 on PLD and did my lvl 40 job quest, so I can pick up the main story, I have several crafting jobs started up, so I could lvl one of them (I also take requests from FC members). PLD is my highest class/job, I could lvl up one of the other jobs, go mining or harvesting, run low lvl fates, go farm Grand Company seals, finish hunting logs for regular classes or the Grand Company log, fill out the gathering logs, go explore the unfilled parts of the maps, play the market board, help out lower lvl members of my FC with other dungeon runs, go fishing, craft some money makers....

Side Note: Anyone talk to any of the non-quest related NPCs? Some of them say some super funny stuff. I found this one guy in Sagoli(sp) Desert near where the mythril mining nodes are, and he's a zombie just chilling by a camp fire.

PvP is just around the corner. As long as its implemented right, which Yoshi seems to understand, its going to create a whole new element, section, or game basically. I would wait for that before you decide that you are truly bored.

I took a break from XIV last night to go raiding with my friends in XI, a little knot of folks who have been through endgame and back together and still play. (I've known one of them since 2004 level 50 WHM.) We did a bunch of Yorcia skirmishes last night and it was lots of silly fun.

Now I'm jonesin' for XIV again and will probably play tonight, with a nice fat rested bonus.

I stopped there. Have you done your story at all? That is the answer to all things FFXIV and if you have not then you reap what you sow.

Well im a Legacy Player and could Play since headstart (ok the first 2 days not realy^^). My highest Legacy Class was at 26 (the game was real boring at 1.0) and i wantet a Tank Class so that i dont have to wait at Dungeon finder. It tooked me i think 10 days or so to cap my PLD from 1-50.
(but to be honest i think i should have choose Maruder, its more Player friendly and Group Aggro is far easyier to manage, i also have heard Maru should do his Job nearly equal good as PLD at Hard Bosses, because they have more HP, Dmg and so on, so i real wonder where is the Point to Play a PLD)

Now i lvling my Miner and Armorer (with a bit other crafting Job here and there), when everything works right i get both capped at end of the Month, since i found out now how i can push crafting Job most efficent. There is still a lot to do for me, but when it Comes to crafting and mining, all feels the same, and Mining could be real boring when you do it on your own. (no Problem for the hackers lol, thats the main Point witch borthers me with this^^)

I think i will lvl this Weekend my Archer a bit, want a range dmg class but i hate casting times XD

I've seen this issue a lot. But you know what? THe game's been out less than a month. If you're 50 or closing it on it in a month's time, how long do you expect it to last for you? I have 3 jobs around 20, i'm following stories and other lines closely, i'm exploring and adventuring. I've done a few of the dungeons a few times to get bonus gear, i'm fishing and enjoying the scenery. I'm not in a rush, but maybe that's just my play style.

Don't think of hte game as leveling. Think of it as an adventure and have fun, and leveling as a byproduct of hte fun that you're having. It's much more enjoyable that way.

I'm so far from being bored atm. worked my *** off to get 45 yesterday so I could get my AF gear.. tried to do Garuda fight with no experience in the fight, whm had to much lag 3x she died and us dd 1x couldn't get the plumes fast enough. So I figured I need to lv up, get some better gear, and learn the fight. I ran around doing Hunting logs both GC and Class unlocked full zones (at lv 44 you get about 1900ish for unlocking a new area and 19kish for unlocking full zone) while looking for Log mobs I found a few side quests I didn't do and then ran a few Fates ( which at peak times isn't fun because by the time you get there 40 others alrdy got there and I only got to kill like 1-2 mobs for a whooping 1-2k ; ;

So I ran the lv 41 storyline dungeon tried like 4-5x before I got in a good group and at lv 44 (bumps you to 43) I'm still getting 900-1100k a mob plus boss bonus and finish bonus plus a really good weapon drops at the end...(7 attempts PUGx3 ARCx1 GLDx2 MRDx1) i'm a DRG ; ; Still have the lv 44 dungeon to try.. maybe another shot at my spear in the lv 41 dungeon, if not there is a nice GC one i can grab for about 3700 seals... (Breathe) What im trying to say is I'm sooo far from running out of stuff to do and being bored it's ridiculous, ive done all that and didn't even mention crating and low lv jobs Dungeons have great xp don't let anyone fool you plus you can get decent gear which takes more than 1 try so good luck to you on what you choose to do, my wall is finished

There is too much to do in the game to be bored. I find that when people say they are bored it really means they are lazy. When you have every class/job at 50, every quest done, every item in the game in your possession, then and only then can you say you are bored. If none of those appeal to you then you shouldn't be playing an MMO.

A prime example of people who are just trying to burn their way to level cap and miss out on so much other things that go on. I have actually really enjoyed some other side quests involved. And I am currently leveling BLM, WAR and BRD because I am really enjoying their story lines (maybe not so much BRD).

My next step is to start on some crafting stuff, still haven't decided what craft I want though, primarily because I haven't decided between what will be my main job at 50.

Just slow down and enjoy the game, the last thing I plan on doing here is making it a grind. I will do a FATE party here and there, then as soon as I start to get the "grindy" feeling I head out and try to knock out some hunting log stuff, storyline, or just exploring new areas.

I really thought I would be a lot more anxious not being at level cap but I am surprising fine so far :)

I basically stopped leveling PGL and doing the story when I discovered how insanely addictive/infuriating crafting is, and I've been playing as much as I can in the free time I've had; I'm not even remotely bored (and if I was I'd probably try out the recommend function).
