Materia +0 help! :: Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV, FF14)

Hi,
I just tried to meld 2 lvl 3 materia to some ilevel 55 gear and the second materia is giving +0, i dont understand what happened here, can anyone help explain?
Also is there a good site that teaches us these things like what level items can be converted into lvl 3 or lvl 4 materia?

All items have a level that won't allow progress.
If you try to add materia to an item that is at it's limit you won't get benefit from it.

Yes, it's called FFXIV. If you bother to read the tutorials, as well as the text when you try to meld, it flat out tells you you can only enhance certain attributes of a piece of gear to a certain point.
