Odin and Behemoth FATE's playable on your server?Follow

So last night I went along to my first Odin FATE, pretty much to see what all the fuss is about.

Well, as it turns out this was a big mistake and a waste of game time. After getting to the fate and fighting for a minute or two, the server had a massive coronary and a large amount of people in the zone got the 90K error. It took me about half an hour to get back on, it took others over an hour.

During this time I could have been doing something useful, like waiting in DF, gathering, pretty much anything else in fact.

The way I look at it at the moment, this content is broken. The trinket like rewards that come from doing these FATE's are basically vanity items at level 50. Combine this with the very real danger of the server crashing and keeping you out of game for a while, and these simply aren't worth doing

I guess the question is: does this situation occur on other servers too? I expect this will get ironed out as we move down the track, but honestly a lot of the server issues are taking a lot longer to work through than I would have hoped. At the moment this content gets the big AVOID stamp from me, and I'll likely be avoiding it for a while to come. After this I can't see it being much more than a curiosity..

The only issue that i'm having with Odin is that despite a party of 8 heavy hitters, you're rarely going to see anything over Silver since it will simply die WAY too fast for you and your party to hit the Gold treshhold.

Got Gold my very first time since it was all relatively quiet there. I've had three silvers since, simply because there's not 200 people hitting it, but something in the range of 800-900.

It dies way too quick. If there's any saving this FATE, it needs to have it's HP upped by 3-400%. Otherwise no one except the rare x6 Allagan weapon super DD group is going to hit Gold anymore.

Back in the earlier days in WoW, they did the server wide long grind for opening the gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Once the gate could be opened and the battle event started in the zone of Silithus, everyone that had a max level character was there. The same would happen there too.. mass disconnects and sever stability issues. Blizzard stopped doing that event.. and server wide events like it for this reason.

Behemoth has a new ability apparently - invisible stealth mode. It's quite an achievement for a obese giant purple rhinoceros to go invisible so well.

I think Yoshi P has said each zone has a limit of 1000 people max.

So if there really are 800-900+ people wailing on it, I can believe that the server has a heart attack and inadvertently kicks off many people.

I think the zone limit in XI was set to 700 because of Besieged. Even then, you could barely see ten feet in front of your face because it was so crowded.

I tried Odin on Saturday. I could see the mob when I started as a drg because I was in melee range. I died and switched to smn and noticed that Odin kept disappearing. Every time i went to max range to avoid aoe I would lose target and have to go back in to get it again.

This was on my "bad" computer though. I haven't tried it on my up to date box that can actually run the game on high.
