Hey all, sometime between last Thursday night and Friday afternoon my account was locked and suspended. I couldn't log in and when I checked the mogstation it said "This account is currently suspended". I called SE friday and they said they would start an investigation on my account to see if I was hacked. Now I've seen quite a few posts like this over on reddit, but no one was able to help or give any answers to if they received their accounts back or not.

Most people were hacked, but some seem to be just caught in the RMT ban-waves. I'm in the latter group I believe, as my character still has all of his gear, and I haven't noticed any new characters created on my account. From what I gathered from other threads on reddit, it seems there was one thing a decent amount of us, who didn't believe we were hacked, shared in common; we had sent gil through the mailing system a couple of times. In my case, I sent materials to a crafter and once he sent me the item I would send him a payment/tip. I did this roughly 3 times.

I'm just curious if anyone else had any answers, or even similar cases? I'm pretty frustrated with this and any news would be better than what I have now, and I also just paid for 6 months of subscription 3 days before I was banned lol. Thanks

Have you ever replied to any of the RMT spammers? I think that if you speak with them, along with mailing gil, it probably throws up a red flag.
I'm not saying it doesn't suck to be caught up in RMT bans accidentally, assuming you are innocent, but at least they are hitting them hard.

Mailing system is clearly an RMT trap. Obviously not meant to be used by regular players Smiley: nod

On a serious note, you probably won't get a reasonable explanation of what caused the suspension from SE.

You must have done something to catch SE's attention. I've sent gil and I haven't been banned, so that's not it.

People who received or traded gil with a known gilseller (tracked by the STF) do get banned. So I hope you haven't done anything stupid like that.

The trouble is even if this person is "innocent" (and I'm not suggesting they are or aren't, I don't know the particulars here) SE has terrible customer service and getting this resolved is likely more trouble than it's worth. Should get a refund and go play a different game if they're not dealing with the problem promptly. I don't say this lightly either or to "troll" as the internet generally defaults to. I have nothing but praise for Yoshi-P and his team for the quality game they've produced but that and their entire customer service dep't and approach to customer service / community relations are different things. If I had to use one word to sum up the pile of garbage that is SE outside of Yoshi-P and his team, I'd say "inflexible" or maybe even "arbitrary". There really isn't anything redeeming about that part of their company. Might be one offs of good experiences but from what I've seen and experienced on the whole you spend your time walking on eggshells to get a favourable response or just stone walled.
