Make Gil, stick it to RMTFollow

RMT bots are bot hacking mining for shards, and making crazy money. The shards are selling for 50-100 gil each, and you can farm up 700+ per hour with a 26 Botanist/Miner without hacks.

The way to get them is go to the points where the crystals/pigments are. Figure out where the +1 yield point is, and the two points closest to it, then jump between the three. Skip the 4th point, it will only lower your gathering rate. Use the appropriate ward when you have the CP, and you can easily get 700 shards per hour. If you have gear sets ready, you can jump to a FATE that pops near you if you want a break in the tedium.

As a crafter, I buy shards from the retainers that don't have 20,000 up for sale at the same time (ie the warp bot RMT's) when they are available, even if they cost a little more. I suggest everyone else does the same. Stick it to the RMT, and make some gil.

Ditto

I sell shards, but I tend to undercut the RMT if possible. If not I sell in smaller stacks (70 or so) to separate myself from the guy that has 10 stacks of 99. Farming them is quite easy, though very monotonous which is why the RMT are botting them.

I always sell a bit under what it looks like the rmt are selling them for. I really wish the game had active GMs like 11 did.

Also, ask any dentist. Prevention is always better than having to solve problems that arise later. Right now random bannings aren't hurting them. Taking them when they shout and teleport mine when it's happening will help more.

RMT will never, ever, go away. Accept this. People say that banning them will stop them. It won't. All they will do is buy another copy and start again. They bot, so therefore it's just a matter of time before they remake their levels. All I would love for them to do is eliminate the tells/shouts via some method.

Are shards more profitable than crystals?

Of course you won't drive them out of business, but you can take a small chunk of their business away. It also gives us crafters an alternative source of shards besides the RMT.

Shards sell a whole lot faster than crystals. If you put a stack of 500 crystals up on the market, you're going to be waiting a while for it to sell. A stack of 500 shards will sell in no time. You can farm up crystals while harvesting shards, and possibly make some more gil that way. I just suggest keeping your sell size to 100 or less.

It's been scientifically proven the only two things to survive a nuclear holocaust will be cockroaches and RMT'er's

It sucks to have to ignore shouts and tells in game, but they'll get it sorted out when they can. But their counter measure for shout spam was totally el-oh-el. Remember in WoW when RMT would allign dead level 1 bodies in the cities to spell out their adverts? That was kinda awesome.

It was pretty funny. You'd see one appear, then two or three more, eventually it'd spell out the website. People would park their mounts on top of them, or they'd stand on them and make obscene /em [does filthy stuff to the goldsellers]. Anybody in our guild who wasn't doing anything would come join the fun.

I hate RMT, but you really have to admire the mind that comes up with that idea.

I'm a lvl 14 miner, and I can get 100 shards in about 7 minutes just in Central Thanalan on level 5 mining nodes. I believe that comes out to more than 700 shards per hour without needing to figure out what node to skip.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.
