Question about JobsFollow

#1 Oct 01 2013 at 1:23 AM Rating: Decent
Hello everyone

beeing an FFXI Veteran myself i COULDN'T resist to try FFXIV (Both versions) I gotta say that what we have atm looks pretty neat and im really enjoying it. Although theres one thing that i DON'T understand.

I started as Archer and i know that i can switch to other Jobs like Conjurer by just talking to the Guild. And then i can switch back and forth by just equipping the right weapon. But on the other Hand, i found informations about other "Jobs" like Warrior White Mage, so more like the old Jobs in FFXI

What are those Jobs, and when and how can i switch to them.

Thank you in advance

Once you read level 30 in one of the base classes, you have the ability to switch to a 'job': a more specialized version of the class you're playing.

All job requirements can be found here:

http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1l29jn/all_job_requirements/
Quote:
Bard = 30 Archer / 15 Pugilist
Summoner = 30 Arcanist / 15 Thaumaturge
Scholar = 30 Arcanist / 15 Conjurer
Dragoon = 30 Lancer / 15 Marauder
Black Mage = 30 Thaumaturge / 15 Archer Proof
White Mage = 30 Conjurer / 15 Arcanist
Monk = 30 Pugilist / 15 Lancer
Warrior = 30 Marauder / 15 Gladiator
Paladin = 30 Gladiator / 15 Conjurer

So let's say I just got thaumaturge (THM) to 30. To be able to get the quest to change to BLM, I would need to level archer (ARC) to 15 first. Kind of similar to subjobs. After I have done that, I can go to the THM guild and become a BLM.

BLM specializes in direct magic damage spells more so than THM while THM retains many nice cross class abilities.

For instance, THM has access to raise, protect, stoneskin, mantra, etc while BLM does not. In exchange, BLM obtains some nice abilities of its own that THM does not have access to: convert, freeze, apocatastasis, manawall, and flare.

Ah nice....ty..

so you still can Play as a Whm in FFXIV, just neet to level Conjurer to 30 and Arcanist to 15 to unlock the Whm Job. Im liking this Game more and more.......

But when you have the right levels in the right jobs, do you can unlock your Whm or do you have to do a quest befor like it was in FFXI?

Basically, the CNJ trainer will tell you to go visit your WHM trainer and you continue from there.

For BLM, the Lalafells in the THM guild were interrupted by a BLM after I had finished my last THM quest. The BLM told me to seek him out to learn how to be a BLM. After that, you go to him for most of the quests.

There is a quest (and quests for extra abilities every 5 levels) for your jobs, yes.

However, once you obtain them, it's as easy as equipping your job-crystal and poof. Instantly you're a WHM for instance.

Also note you gain a stat boost by being a job, along with the other stuff already mentioned.
