So a FC mate of mine told me that he didn't see a point in going for one of the luminary tools for gathering. I'm currently working towards the fishing one. As far as I can see, he's right about the rod being pointless unless you like showing it off. My whole thing on the subject is, I think SE will make it later down the road, that maybe only certain fish can be caught(or mine, bot) with the luminary tool. Starting a whole quest for the ultimate tool or something. Does anyone else think something like that will happen?

No.

Achievements are there as something to work towards. As useless as it may be (same as Halycon), it's still an achievement and a personal goal to shoot for. In the end, that's all that matters.
