Sync ?Follow

just for curiosity I would like to know how this system of "sync" works ...
I mean, now I am a lvl 50 dragoon with artifact armour and a weapon that does the same damage of the GC weapon.
Now if I enlist to, for example Aurum Vale I will be synced to level 49.
I already noted (during some fate sync) that health will be accordingly reduced and also action that are more high in level will be not available.
But what happen for your gear (for def stats and other stat like strenght, det., skill speed and so on) ? what happen to the power of your weapon; for example now I have this level 50 HQ lance that does X damage ... if I am synced to 49 the weapon will have less damage or not and if yes how much less ?
I looked a little in helps menu but I did not find any explanation.
Thank you for answer

I believe the general consensus is that your gear will be set to similar gear of that level.. If you have a level 50 lance with 36 damage on it, and a common level 49 alternative would have 33 damage on it, your weapon will be set to 33 damage. It depends a little per piece and per job, but in general it sets the stats to similarly leveled pieces of the level you're synching to. For example, if you have a DMG:44 Relic+1 weapon or a DMG:39 weapon, both would be set to DMG:33 if you level synch to 49. Same for stats on there having a maximum amount per level, so you cant synch down with your fancy STR+33 armor and expect to keep a lot of it. I think it's something like +12 for each stat as a maximum at 49, and less each couple of steps.

They probably made a long list for each job, stating that;
Lv.1: Weapon Damage = X, Max Stats for each piece of armor = Y.
Lv.2: Weapon Damage = X, Max Stats for each piece of armor = Y
And level 3, all the way up to 50. Pretty sure having a HQ piece or not doesnt matter during level synch. Weapon damage and stats are reduced up to the values given that match the stats of gear of a similar level.

They -should- have made it a percentage decrease. But that way, some gear from higher levels would have tremendous benefits over gear of the actual level. There would actually be a point to bringing a Relic to a fight then atleast though, but things would be far too easy.

I think the way it works is it syncs you to level X, and all of your gear to ilevel X.

AKA you are level 50 with ilevel 90 weapon and i70 gear

You go to 49, and all of you gear caps at the stat caps for i49 gear. Which is why Kojiro says a relic or a relic +1 will both cap at the same dmg.

Traditionally stat caps are determined by:
1) ilevel
2) rarity (normal< hq crafted=pink <green=blue)

But on level sync it all goes to ilevel normal i believe, so any bonus from rarity is lost.

Uh, no.

The scaling is percentage based. If you show up to a lower level dungeon to help out a friend you *immediately* notice the difference compared to when you last ran something if you're using a higher level weapon much less a relic/+1. After having run AV a few times in the past two weeks to help out the slower leveling people in the free company it sure as hell doesn't set you to D33 or whatever the 'ilvl' of the dungeon equivalent weapons drop.

Except that isn't how it works either. If it did, you'd never have a higher level tank friend in say Toto-Rak with nearly 1,500 health that's endgame geared. Or a CNJ doing nearly 40-50 more points of healing than someone that's of the 'proper' gear.

The scaling's percentage based. It looks that more than likely they went with a Blizzard style algorithm in that it sets the stats based on the level of the sync and nothing with ilevel is taken into consideration (or if it is, it's extremely loose and generous in comparison to FFXI's **** scaling).

Well i have a relic whm and mnk and when i get home i will queue up a lower dungeon and compare the stats of my gear to the gear on xivdb and see how it compares.

I already know its 100000x better than the way ffxi did it where you basically lost all stats when you level synced.

Well it seems to scale to current level best gear

ilevel 70 body + 20 min, sync down to level 20 = +4 min, best body at level 20 = +4 min
ilevel 50 ring +6 min , sync down to level 20 = 2min, best ring at level 20 = +2 min
ilevel 60 ring + 8 min, sync down to level 20 = 2min

So it looks more like it scales to the best ilevel for the level you sync to.

O I also had less hp than the lancer and mnk, even though i had full i70 gear with vit melds.... and they were in level appropriate gear
