So after some yamming and hawing about not having my old Square ID from my 1.0 days I noticed something. I bought 1.0 on Amazon, and low and behold there was my old code. Quick lengthy call to SQEX and Voila! I have my old Legacy account!
This is a double edged sword, however. On my legacy account I upgraded to Digital Collectors and bought the 180 day subscription. Booya! And my fiance can now play on my non-legacy account. The downside is now she'll have my preorder bonus items and I won't. No big deal, really.
Other than nostalgia and a cheaper subscription cost I don't really seem to benefit at all from my legacy account. I don't plan on playing on my Legacy character. Still, it's neat having that little badge there. Any speculation on any other Legacy perks up the pipe, if any?
EDIT: Eww, it ended up on Durandal. Yay for transfers! Hyperion, here I come.

Legacy characters have their chocobos available from day one (if they unlocked them via the GC quest in the old game.) That was handy.
Other than that, not really. Any new character on a Legacy account gets some of the legacy perks, like the legacy chocobo.
You also get a separate intro on the legacy account if you completed the quest "United We stand" in 1.0 - I did not so my 42 THM got the standard intro. That annoyed me.

Some Legacy accounts have the Asuran Armbands (From FFXIII first edition), Hermes shoes from a linked XI account, and the old pre-order goggles (awesome) or onion helm (hideous). These are all low-level items, but the hermes shoes are absolutely amazing for when you've crafted up stacks of stuff to turn in for leves, because it's basically perma-sprint in towns.

Yeah, it doesn't look like I get any of those unfortunately. My XI account was linked to a different ID (grrrr... why was I so stupid in my teenaged years) and I didn't pre-order 1.0, nor complete United We Stand. Oh if only I could go back in time..
