Smite Gets A Visual Overhaul

Smite has undergone a few major visual changes with its latest  game update, to better fit the more recent visual and art direction developments of the game. Additionally, new character skins, voice over dialogue and item changes have made their way with this patch as well. To show off some of the most recent changes, Hi-Rez has gifted us with this video highlighting exactly what players can expect to see change, take a look!

SMITE: Chang'e, Faerie of the Moon

"We better not risk a frontal assault, that rabbit's dynamite!"

The newest entrant to SMITE's pantheon is the forlorn Faerie of the Moon, Chang'e. This twice-made goddess lives an eternity in enforced estrangement from her husband due to a falling out with the Jade Emperor.

She hopes to save the Earth and earn her way to reuniting with her love.

SMITE PAX Prime And Gamescom Tournaments

If you're planning to attend either Gamescom or PAX Prime, you might be in for a god-like time! Today Hi-Rez Studios announced that its next two big SMITE tournaments will be taking place at the upcoming conventions.

SMITE: Chronos, Keeper of Time

We're having a decidedly MOBA morning here at ZAM and, to continue the theme, Hi-Rez Studios has unveiled the latest addition to SMITE's pantheon, Chronos.

The keeper of the Clock of Eternity, Chronos keeps things ticking along, moving the universe inexorably forward. He fears nothing. Being the embodiment of time itself, Chronos is sure that he will outlast all.

Isis enters the fray in SMITE bringing damage and support abilities that make her a versatile weapon in any player's arsenal.

Her AOE silence, magic debuff, stun and improved movement speed abilities give her a lot of tools to wreck an opponent's day.

SMITE Competition: Unlock Fenrir, The Unbound

For SMITE fans who want something a bit feral in their action, the new entry to the pantheon, Fenrir The Unbound, will add a lot of bite.

Fenrir is a melee beast with eye catching powers such as his Ultimate, Ragnarok, which makes him a gigantic presence in any lane.

Now you have a chance to immediately unlock him to add to your personal roster thanks to Hi-Rez Studios. The lucky winners of our competition will get a code that will make Fenrir available as well as unlocking his alternate color skin, Frostfang.

The Free Agent: Episode 2 - SMITE

Welcome back to the Free Agent, ZAM's bi-weekly column that investigates the question, "can gaming really be free?" If you missed Episode 1 it's not too late to catch up on the Free Agent's first impressions of TERA Rising, a free-to-play action/RPG MMO. But as we move on to Episode 2 we're shifting gears over to the free-to-play MOBA market, making our way onto the battleground of the gods with SMITE.

Hi-Rez Studios may have made its way in the world as an FPS developer with the Tribes franchise, but that didn't exclude it from throwing its hat into the every expanding roster of MOBA games we're seeing on the market. For those that aren't entirely clear what a MOBA is, it stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, a fast paced PvP experience best known for games like League of Legends and DOTA2.

But unlike the hordes of MOBA clones slated for release or currently in beta testing, SMITE offers a different perspective on the MOBA genre, quite literally in fact.

Ne Zha Enters the Battleground of Gods

Only a week after adding a whole new gamemode to SMITE, the folks over at HiRez are continuing to add to their DotA-style title. The latest addition is a Chinese God by the name of Ne Zha, The Third Lotus Prince; an Assassin/Carry. Unfortunately this post is text format only so you will not get to hear me butchering the pronunciation with my Irish accent, sorry.

SMITE Assault Challenge (ARAM) Preview

Yesterday I had the opportunity to play the new SMITE Assault Challenge map before it got released to the public, Assault is basically everything you know and love about the All Random All Mid game mode popularized by the League of Legends community. The idea of everybody running to the same lane to battle to death has been around since the DotA days, but SMITE, with its locked chase camera driven by W, A, S and D, offers a unique experience that some may prefer.

Apollo, God of Music enters the SMITE battleground

The folks over at HiRez seem to be hitting a few right notes these days with their new third-person MOBA SMITE, their PAX/TwitchTV $10,000 tournament certainly turned a few heads. They have today revealed the latest god to enter the fray, Apollo, the greek God of Music.
