Final Fantasy XIV Open Beta Dates Announced!

Square Enix Announces Official Date for the Start of FFXIV's Open Beta!

UPDATE: The Open Beta test has been postponed.

Square Enix has announced, via the official Final Fantasy XIV Twitter, the starting dates for the Open Beta for Final Fantasy XIV. Servers will remain up and running for 24 hours a day to allow players to participate at any given time.

The times for the start of each region are as follows:

19:00 (PDT) Tuesday, August 31st
2:00 (GMT) Wednesday, September 1st
11:00 (JST) Wednesday, September 1st

You can only download the client if you were in closed beta. the registration site should be posted on the official site at approx the time the servers go live. Sadly this means if you didnt get in closed beta you will have to wait to download the client after you get an account.

Ok, thanks. TBH that's probably part of their plan, to keep everyone from logging on all at once, all in the instant the servers go live, because that's a recipe for lagouts/crashes. I just hope they've got the client hosted reasonably, otherwise getting it in the first place is gonna be tough.

Where do you go to create an account and download the client? Will that be released on the day the beta opens? Or can we do it in advance?
