As long as they fix the targeting, i'm set... All of the other stuff i can tolerate until further patches... I'm just sick of having trouble targeting a mob that's 2 feet in front of me ><... I have faith that SE will do the right thing.
Skill points needed to rank 20

I love the idea of all the updates they present, and looking forward to this.

I've spent quite some time playing during the last 2 months, and spread my effort around several jobs, now having one 24, 21, 20, 18, 3x16 and 3x15.
If they are to "greatly reduce the amount needed to reach rank 20", I will consider this a punishment to those that have actually made a good effort reaching rank 20 to be able to do the class quests and so.
This seems like a way to easy way to give the game "more" content early on, just making it easier to reach the content that already exists, in stead of adding new content.

I reckoned that they would greatly reduce the amount needed come the PS3-release to balance out so that new players where able to catch up at some time, but I never saw it coming as early as it does. And once again: I see this as a way of punishing those that have put down a lot of effort during the last 2 months.
I'll bet you people trust politicians, too.

There's nothing to get excited about until everything is implemented and, more importantly, shows that it's been tested and improves gameplay. Promises mean absolutely nothing, especially coming from SE. You can't play a to-do list.

Whats really funny to me is there was an open beta. So, because there was a chance to try the game out completely free, anyone who bought the game and is 'disappointed' purely after purchase is a moron in my eyes.

You literally could have seen everything the game was for free, and figured out if you should have spent money on it. IMO anyone who bought the game and was 'surprised' should get charged twice as a 'sucker' penalty.

This post is ridiculous...

I signed up for open beta i got account i created char slots etc and then i tried to download the client and for 4 weeks it got to 25% the day before close of open beta....

Not everyone even had a chance to try it even if they got accepted.

I personally love the game people who ragequit dont need to be here anyways they obviously want a easier game that hands everything to you.

This game practically hands you everything but it makes you work a little for it. A Little hard work goes a long way.

Yes, there was an open beta, no not everyone who wanted to get a key was able to do so. Not to mention SE said they had content unavailable for beta that would be available come release and most people who have experience with being a beta tester knows that the feedback they give is usually put into the game before release. That's the point of beta testing. Not to try out a game for free. Feedback from beta is normally taken into account and changes are made, not this time. There is a reason why it's called beta, not preview, and it's because the game when you play it in beta isn't suppose to be in it's release form.

I don't think many people expect a game of this size to be perfect at release, and I think most realize that tweaks will be needed along the way. But the frustration was there was a beta and a lot of these issues were brought up during beta and it wasn't until the subscribers dropped off that they are being addressed.

I'm glad they are listening to the players though and trying to give us what we know this game can be.

Just checking back to see if my CE version is worth more than being a $80 coaster and doorstop.

Nope... not yet. Maybe next month.

Nice try though.

SE is just completely and absolutely out of touch with their priorities. Just look at some of the upcoming "improvements":

Quote:
The splitting of Attributes & Gear into two separate menu options

What? Really? So now putting on gear to see if it's an upgrade will require me to:
  • Open the main menu
  • Open attributes menu and record my current stats
  • Close attributes menu
  • Open the main menu
  • Open the Gear menu
  • Dig through my inventory to find the new piece
  • Equip it
  • Close gear menu
  • Open main menu
  • Open attributes menu and observe new stats
  • Decide whether or not the gear is an upgrade

Quote:
A feature allowing players to change their retainers' equipment

This feature seems a lot more important than say... "The addition of an "/assist" text command" which isn't coming out until the "2011 Update" (whenever that will be)

Many of the improvements also seem blatantly vague:
  • Adjustments to classes
  • Adjustments to macro functionality
  • Adjustments to item durability

Most of the changes are good, but honestly SE should be embarrassed that these features weren't released with the game to begin with.

No idea we don't know how the menu looks 1st but i don't think they would make it worse thats the whole point of the patch. You prob can compare without doing all that or maybe multiple windows at a time. can't tell or actually have an impact if we never saw how it looks.
my 2 cents

We will get the airships and chocobos in time. Hopefully they won't make us wait too long. I'm glad they they seem to be addressing the issues we are having with this game. Yeah, we shouldn't have had some of these problems to begin with. They should have waited to release it when they had more of the bugs fixed. But, I am surprised with how quickly they are going about fixing these problems. Yeah, I know other companies are more responsive when fixing issues. Yet, we all know SE's track record with FFXI. Its taking longer than it should, but its a move in the right direction for SE.

I wish they were more clear as to what is going to be in the November update. Could say what they are %100 sure is going to be in the update. I don't care much for the vagueness that they normally do. I know they don't want to promise A and B for November update and end up only being able to actually implement half of A and none of B. Would cause even more problems. Having a concrete list of some of what will be in it will calm down a number of us.

Either way, it made me feel a bit better after reading what they had to say. I'm really liking the company thing they are talking about. Having our own building and ship sounds really cool. Didn't really think SE would do something like this. I really want a moghouse though. Or just a plain house or cottage. I want a place to make my own. I really miss that from FFXI. They really spoiled us with that and I hope they plan on giving us housing.

I suppose late is better than never but one wonders why they felt they had/could to release the game so early when they would have never released one of their console games in such a buggy state.
:D

SE answers all the hate! Now hopefully they deliver with quality. I am looking forward to these changes, especially companies!!!! Very interesting idea. oh and to the above poster, those things will come with time. SE has a a lot on its plate right now, let them handle the most important stuff first :)
Updates, but where are these???

I don't know about anyone else, but I miss having a place to go and personalize and furnish(carpenters can make furniture etc.). Namely my mog house. I think they need the residential areas like in XI. Also, airships and the chocobos. These don't seemed to be mentioned at all in any of the updates. I know there are in-game references to these like the stables and mysterious docks and airships flying overhead.I just feel these are basic features know matter what version of Final Fantasy you're creating.
