Magicrazor's Guide to the Northshire Valley

The Northshire Valley lies in the northeastern area of Elwynn Forest. The valley is due east of the city of Stormwind and north of the hamlet of Goldshire. The peaceful Northshire Valley is a safe area for new adventurers.

The valley contains the Northshire Abbey. The Abbey is a good place for you to test your skills and learn the ropes. You'll never be very far from Northshire Abbey. The Abbey is on the west side of the River. The river begins at a spectacular waterfall in the north valley. It flows south and empties into Crystal Lake near the small hamlet of Goldshire. The young wolves and timber wolves, which inhabit the valley, won't attack you unless you engage them first.

Echo Ridge Mine is located in the valley just north of the Abbey. The Kobolds in and outside the mine are more concerned their camps than attacking passers-by.

The Defias Brotherhood has taken over the vineyards on the east side of the river. The Defias Thugs are aggressive and attack anyone who gets close enough. There are two Defias camps on the northeast side of the vineyards close against the mountains. You have to enter both these camps to complete certain quests.

Northshire Abbey

Northshire Abbey is a small church. The multi-storied Abbey is old and contains many nooks, crannies and stairways. The church is hard to get around in. The Abbey is home to many class trainers and other non-player characters (NPCs). Remember to look everywhere inside the abbey for stairways if you can't find a certain NPC. The quests offered by the NPCs help you grasp the foundations of how the game is played.

There are also class trainers, merchants, and other quest-giving NPCs around the outside perimeter of the Abbey. There are no profession trainers on the Abbey grounds but an Alchemy and Herbalism trainer are found in the hills to the west toward Stormwind.

MOBS

Various creatures and entities referred to as mobile objects (MOBs) surround the Abbey and reside in the nearby countryside The low-level MOBs close to the Abbey are non-aggressive. They do not attack unless attacked. They include:

Your class trainer gives new or better fighting and defense skills as the player obtains higher levels. The class trainers in and around the Abbey are:

To find the Alchemy and Herbalism trainers, go out the south gate of Valley. Turn west along the base of the hills toward Stormwind. You will come to a Defias camp. Go around or fight your way

Abbey are various merchants who carry basic low-level supplies and equipment.

Echo Ridge Mine

The Echo Ridge Mine is

due north of the Abbey. The mine itself is populated by Kobolds. All the Kobolds

inside are workers and laborers, and non-hostile. It's a great bridge between

fighting the wolves outside and fighting the Defias across the river near the

vineyards.

Vineyards

ï¿½

The Northshire Vineyards seem

peaceful when seen from the Abbey.ï¿½

When you cross the small wooden bridge, you quickly realize it crawls

with foes. The vineyard, which used to supply the Abbey with plentiful drink, is

now taken over by the Defias Brotherhood. Defias Thugs roam the area, and a

named Defias called Garrick Padfoot has set up camp near the vineyards. He poses

a threat to lower level players.

Low level players have trouble if

more than two Defias Thugs gang up on them. Exercise caution and a little common

sense before you engage thugs close to their comrades
