This General leads a nasty contingent of Dragoons who depart from the city at dusk each night. It is inadvisable to be in their way as they depart the city.

He dropped Pillar of Frost (51 WIZ) today. Of course, on Mayong server a level 51 spell is nearly worthless. =(

normally, while going through OT, I (an Erudite necro) had no problems sitting, medding, or waiting for mobs to show up. Today, however, was a different story. Attacked by everyone...including the normally "don't see me" gargoyles. Never thought twice about this, since at lower levels, I was able to sit pretty much anywhere and no get aggroed by them (in fact, they even helped take the burden of too many mobs off my hands). What gives now?? because I'm level 71??

Have some bad memories of this jerk killing me and my groups when we were in our Lv 30's or so.
I quit for over 4 yrs, but just came back and plan on getting sweet revenge on him with my Lv 70 cleric (good gear, I *should* beat him).
This guy used to harass my Paladin also, but he's only Lv 52 and kinda weak gear, so I'm not going to try it.
I'll try posting a screenshot when I kill him. hehe.

I have noticed the goons in OVerthere have a absolutely giant agression range, they are underconned, and have buggy pathing. I was walking through OVerthere with my lvl 66 monk one time and out of nowhere every single goon in the zone just poped right on me. I didn't even have time to hit the FD button before I was dead.

A couple of times a friend and myself would try to take one but every time we attacked 1 there would be another one come from what seemed like clear accross the zone to help.

I thought I lucked out when I found one of his goons pretty well beat up by a couple tigeresses.... I attacked goon and was getting pretty good results when General Butthead appeared out of nowhere.... end result? One dead 47 Ranger with a quickness. For some reason, contrary to several other posts, Gen did not cast at me at all, just chopped me to bits, hitting for 100-150 with incredible frequency.
My advice? Avoid this punk like the plague. If he shows up on your tracking radar, run the other way.

# Jun 23 2004 at 4:51 AM Rating: Decent
He is a Shadownight level 58 definetly.

Aggro one of his goons far from where he is at and he comes a runnin.

If you aggro a goon while he is in a meeting he brings like 5 other goons with him. And boy can he move.

casters beware, this prick summons, seems to be a necro. Magic based spell will land, hes got a pretty good MR, but nothing to write home about. Max damage output 169, does have quite a few Hps though. Those combinations = no druid solo :(
Sweet Revenge
# Aug 10 2003 at 5:52 PM Rating: Decent
I've dropped the General twice now solo, revenge is oh so sweet.

His buddies the goons are pretty trivial now at level 65, but, the General does require a fair amount of work to take down solo. He's got lots of hp, and is pretty resistant. The trick was that he is easily slowable with disease based slow, so I had him slowed 50%. Epic dots, and dogdog meleeing, and down he goes. Took 12 minutes to kill him the first time, 9 minutes the second time, he has a boatload of hp.

I'm a 53 Wood Elf Druid and had been farming Sabretooth tigers for pelts the other night. During one of my Quad pulls I noticed one of the tigers missing and saw that he had been attacked by a Dragoon. Dragoon was alone and no one messes with my pelts so I went ahead and attacked him (full disclosure - I have ES Vambrances and had KEI on too). He was snarable but roots would not hold. Did get him down finally and he dropped a wizzy spell. Hmmmm . . . me thinks. Maybe I should try this again.

Next night cycle I'm waiting in SW corner for the goons to go on patrol. I saw DB goons and this Red General on track but directional indicator made it look like general was seperated from goons. I headed for what I thought was a solo goon and it starts raining and it's dark. I crested a hill and ran smack into a full complement patrol - General, his pet and 3 goons. Luckily was in wolf form so didn't lose speed as my health dropped to 1/3 Blue Bulb before I finally zoned to Warsalik Woods (didn't go out to FM zone as there were a couple groups hunting up there and it would have been a wipe out for sure).

Bottom line - - - > Watch out for this guy if you are soloing. You may be able to handle one Goon but not this guy.
Killed Him Rather Easily
# Jul 24 2002 at 8:19 PM Rating: Decent
The other day my group was in OT fighting the gargoyles in the outpost. We decided to try the general, as we had already killed every other goon. The group consisted of 55 war, 56 dru, 54 cle, 55 mage, 52 bard, and 55 rogue. He came with a pet. We completely crushed him. The cleric was at 60m when the fight was over, and he dropped the mage spell Velocity. I was the druid at the fight. He resisted my nukes almost completely, but all my dots stuck, as well as snare. He resisted my Epic (big suprise there).

If this is true I'm both surprised and impressed...none of you were 60..so he was red to all of you. In all my days I have never once heard of a single group bringing him down so that's quite an accomplishment (especially for mid 50's players).

Killed him last night. Was pulling Rottgrime and General V'Deers added, along with another Goon. After a five minute or so fight, they all lay on ground, dead. We took no casualties. Group was me (60 mage), another 60 mage, 60 cleric, 56 chanter, 55 monk, 57 shammy. General dropped a fine steel two handed sword (WHEE!).

Avoiding the General
# Mar 27 2002 at 5:09 AM Rating: Default
Best way to avoid him is to camp in the corner of the zone. The goons usually never wander off the path. If your at the cliff area of the zone, Just get an evil (non iksar, well besides a monk) to pull. Most of the places that ruin VS faction Kaesora, Karnors, Howling Stones, *not sure about HS* are too high for you and you shouldnt get xp from OT mobs, well not much anyhow..I have a DE necro, and ive pulled there with only a few minor problems. Oh yeah. BARDS AND ROGUES!!! get your mask of deception from lower guk! It helps loads here. Bards and Rogues have WAAAY better ac than an enchanter hehe. (Which ive grped with one that did pull) Ah well.. Im rambling...Have a good day all!! =)
he really kicks ass

Was looking at a group of 10 peeps 55-60 killing rotgrimme for mage epic, and after rotgrimme dead, 8 stayed there and was pulling the golems and iron sentinells. They managed to kill them quickly, then Vdeers aggroed from far away.

They dropped him to 20% hp before he killed the last guy. Score 8-0
I'm inviz to him!?

My group got jumped by the 'ol General tonight and somehow, by the grace of Mithaniel, I survived. The Half Elf Bard and other Paladin didn't even make it back to the ledge. I'm a Half Elf Paladin and saw him run right over me with his pet by his side. I think he was beating on the bard at the time... I ran straight up the hill and looked into down on the carnage that brewed below... I was there, watching him slaughter people and waiting for my turn... I will find pennance somehow. This guy has his stuff down, though... the double hit for 150 followed by a bash and another round of 150's is some tough *&^% to survive.

My Barb. Shammy BARSHA arrived OT when he was 34.

One day when he logged in at 35, he found no group there and his weight was encumbered. So he decided to go the outpost to try whether he can sell or bank.

When he turned out left away the ledge from FM entrance, not far away he saw this named guy (the first time in his life). When the guy ran forwards him, he knew soemthing's wrong. After sceonds, one bubble of HP was gone and he had no hesitation to run back towards FM zone.

Along his way back, he luckily saw that the guy was not following him (with the third person view on) and finally he zoned out. (He is now 37 and never died in OT once)

The question is why he was so luckily and the answer is because he had a pet with him at that time.

Of course, his doggie did not come back as it bravely fight with the 58 guy for just few seconds and then died but it did save its master's life. Moreover, Shammy is always has SOW on all the time, but it might be Scale of Wolf instead of Spirit of Wolf, the Shammy doesn't remember.

So, if you are a caster type and have pet, call one out always and it would save your life one day.

When you attack or cast any offensive spell as I recall. You can invis, you can get hit all day long, as long as you take no offensive action.

It used to drop if something attacks you, so I thought I'd have a look at the spell info on casters realm. You were right! Woohoo! Should be a useful upgrade... if I ever play my level 30 druid again.
