Are thos any good for Pup? Cause i was wondering the +3 str and repair effect + is nice but can be macroed in! He has decent hand-to-hand Skill but will the kick Attack "kick In" if he doesnt have the trait? or else its useless to every other job than monk no?
After 5days of camping i finally got a pair had very lil competition and while i was sleep and or afk only 2 dropped to others. so 5 days and 3 dropped im just glad i got mine nevr camping this guy again.
Told some friends that I frapped it and said I would post it so here it is. Not a good video imo but oh well. Good luck to all that go to get these, solo'd as nin/drk, stunned his 1000 needles and wore damage reduction gear that I use for hnm/sky stuff, worked pretty well =)
If you want to watch it this is the adress: http://youtube.com/watch?v=rYhaWoOeqds
Went to Altepa to kill this beast as 59BST/THF for treasure hunter and flee. When it popped, i sent pet after pet to kill it, but unfortunately after a few poorly timed 1000 Needles I returned to jeuno a 58BST.
Went back a second time, it was still chilling there, unclaimed, taunting me. Killed me again.
"Dammit," I said, and decided to sub WHM. Went back a third time, stomped the singing cactuar's ***, and got my fu fu shoes and level 59 back ^_^
Unfortunately I was orange HP and got bukkake'd by several undead afterwards, and was sent back to Jeuno again as a 58BST, but at least I had my shoes.
OMG, So I have been setting down here at the pop site for the last two and a half hours killing the Two PHs, and the possible one to the west just a bit. When I first came there was an RMT at camp, but left shortly after I got there(Thank god, because I knew I would not have much of a chance). Anywho, I stayed there for about two hours after that killing each PH immediately as it popped. After around 2 1/2 hours it spawned right on me. My brother on his 75 Thf was camping Thf Knife and had 3 minutes left til next pop so he said he would come out right after the pop if it wasn't NM.
when he went to leave he realized he didnt' have any more charges on his Warp Cudgel( I was so freaking mad lol) and he had to get a port from the Crag right outside in the Jungle. I in the mean time kited the monster around for about 15 minutes while this happened. I can say this, it is 100% IMMUNE TO SLEEP. I used ES Sleep II, and it never stuck. I have full Enfeeb Set, so it must be totally imune to it. My brother finally got to the zone and we started hacking away at it. It has VERY nice amount of HP, and hits quick, but never touched him. My brother pulled out his signal pearl to take some of the 1000 needles damage, but it never used it once. At the last part, he full SATAd me to kill it and ....
I really don't want to brag, but I went 1/1 on it! I am honestly really lucky. it feels nice to have not spent the 900k on them, and got them myself. I'm really excited right now :d Thank you to my brother Tealk!!!!!
I'm 70 mnk. Camped Cactuar Cantautor 1/1 drop^^ i punch between 90~130 on Decent challenge and would normally kick for 30~70. With kung fu definitely hit for much more dmg. 110~150ish. Haven't seen any increase in rate. just damage. GL
As THF75 I've been messing around capping HTH, and read up about these 4 Kick attack bonus shoes, and how there was some question as to if they gave kick attacks or not. I then tried camping for Kung Fu, which didn't go well, but later one of my Monk friends said they had a pair I could test out.
As 75THF/MNK, using HTH and wearing Kung Fu's, I spent a good hour or so smacking things outside Rabao, and no, I never once saw any Kick Attacks, other than the ones included in weaponskills of course.
So, either they don't give the kick attack ability or its so low I didn't see it in an hour. My theory is, (because my friend says he does kick attack more with these on) is that these do increase your kick attack dmg and rate but only if you already have the ability.
I can't assume that Kung Fu, Wulong, Wulong+1 and Dune all behave the same, but just posting the info about these so if anyone was wondering like I was when I looked up these.
Coming up, testing with Strike Subligar, whenever I can obtain them.
(Posting this here too because this is the tiem I'm talking about even though the questions were on the Wulong page.)
I posted about this in the thief forum in the past week or so.
I found someone who was selling the Strike Subligar, and this person was kind enough to let me test them. (I let him hold onto my Emperor Hairpin as colateral).
Well, in a nutshell, they worked on thief, and I tried them with both /mnk and /nin. I saw the kicking animation and the resulting third hit for damage. Didn't go off very much - maybe once every 2nd or 3rd fight with skellies out in Xarcabard.
Definitely give the shoes another try with the subligar, if you can.
So in answer to your question: Basically a Foot piece transition for Monk is roughly like
*all before Fed.Kyahan have no stats worth mentioning* Federation Kyahan > RSE Feet (not Elvaan) > Fuma Kyahan* > Kung Fu Boots > Wulong > Dune boots
So, no. Do not look for DEX as a Monk. The choices would either be at this level +4 Attack, +20 Kick Attacks, +3% Haste, or RSE STR Bonus.
IMO Kung Fu FTW until Wulong > Dune Boots.
Lol. . .the kicking boots. . .all they do is increase dmg of your kicks, but your kick attack rate is kinda random, sometimes you kick like mad, sometimes not at all. So for a "which is better", it's hard to say. Haste always works, more haste > more attacks > more TP > more WS = more dmg, something you can count on. So in a dmg comparison, the worth depends on your acc and your luck in getting kicks.
A few more reasonings.
-Fuma are lvl39, rather then 51 (they serve more lvl)
-Fuma have a use on MNK/SAM/NIN, kick boots are MNK only
-Kung Fu shoes are horribly to solo, long spawn time, hard NM, sucky drop rate, Quu Domi is a cake walk in comparison
-(endgame) MNK/NIN isn't too uncommon and haste = less recast on utsusemi
So ofc if you're budget is tight or u lvl more then just MNK or feel the call of MNK/NIN, then Fuma are THE choice, if you just like to kick and feel like MNK ONRY (or you're *************** gil), then feel free to get the kickers. . .both boots have their respective use and it's mainly a question of personal choice and you're money at hand.
Another note: fed kyahan aren't gods choice as MNK really. . .i seriously can't complain about my ATT as MNK (esp lvl51 when u can have okote/horomusha). 4ATT more or less doesn't make much difference anymore. Main reason to use those would be the lack of alternatives at lvl25. . .
nvm, forget the crap kung fu boots -.- now having them i decided to give em a try. . .in my next pt i used the kung fu's for 5 fights. . .and got a whopping 2 Kick attacks as mnk/war. . .and 1 of the 2 kicks even missed -.- . . . might be giving wulongs a try when i get that far, but Kung fu are neither worth the money to buy nor the time to camp <.<
I disagree completely. 5 att will never amount to enough to change your damage unless you are really lacking in attack for some reason or overcamping like hell. 3% haste is only worth anything if that 3% is enough to get a full extra round of attacks in... and its not so 3% haste will NEVER give a SINGLE extra point of dmg ina normal xp situation. If you have a good str slot from RSE that may or may not be a better choice for that slot, but for more kung fus are better by far, even if the extra damage is few and far between at that level it is still more than anything else in that slot will do. So if you can afford them get them... If you cant then why are you playing monk? But I wont ever be pissed not to see a monk wearing them, its only a slight bit better over all, a small amount of something compared to absolutely nothing.
yeah alot people say that kung fu is not worth it, i took the time to really break them in, 5 fights, thats not near enough. i notest a real diferents in my attk dmg, insted of about 1/3 the dmg as my punches, they do the same if not more now, the rate may not change, but you still kick more often then counter, so imo, kung fu is def. worth it if you can get them
My Kick Attacks are the same damage as my punches w/o these shoes. I can hit up to 100 dmg in one kick at lvl 62 on an IT mob. I would go with the +haste.
Upgrade them to wulongs and see if you want the dunes then ;) Shoes alone arent horrid but much better if you know a high lvl cloth to make some wulongs for ya :P
Just became able to equip these. There's way more to these shoes than meets the eye :D Double / Kick attacks rock. Prepare to rip hate. *opinion* Seems like kicking is hitting through higher defense (or is just stacked higher than me punches, now)..
After further use I agree that these shoes have hidden effect DMG: 25 on kicks as opposed to DMG: 0 on kicks equiping other footwear. I'm not sure about an increase to the actual abillity (eg. +1 Kick Attacks), because, if you are equiping this, you are watching very closely for kicks, which it might seem like you are kicking more often :)
Im just throwing this up there... i bought some TM+2s the other day cause everyone i talk to says they beat Spartan Cesti so i figured id bite while i had the money, these shoes, im unsure of the price, however to my understanding of these posts they give a Kick Attacks+ (hidden) like the Dune Boots, anyone got a guess on the +, word has it. worth its money, and i don't doubt it sounds pretty sick gunna check it out today though im @ 50 MNK
Infact these Kung Fu shoes DO give kick attacks a little boost and they do make kicking attacks come more often when in battle. it's not really worth too much to switch to fuma, fuma is probably exactly good as these are. If you are planning to buy these shoes then i recomend it. but it isnt a MUST HAVE item, if you dont got the money for it i say to just stick with fuma it gives haste %+ which is important to mnk. In other words dont get what you dont need, you can live without these.
Never boost DEX as a Monk. Take Acc/Atk/STR over DEX.

*optional and very expensive, some Monks love the 3% stacked with their 8% haste from Brown belt, but its not necessary. If you dont have Fumas, Fed.Kyahan > RSE > Kung Fu.
#REDACTED,
Posted:Jun 03 2005 at 3:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) A lot of people are thinking about sticking w/ Fuma Kyahan which gives you 3% Haste. If you are fighting long enough for that 3% too actually make a noticable difference, you have already been fighting for too long. 700k for 3%, or 1 mil or more power on kick attacks...duh. Common sense here people.
im only level 48mnk and i do a lot to get my money so i level slowly but i definatly think ahead and was just wondering if i should stick with my fuma kyan of put a lot of my savings into these shoes. personally i dont think 10-15 extra dmg is worth 1mil plus its not every hit that u kick, its only once in a while. i would rather stick with haste to help delay on cross counters im waiting to use, but i was just wondering what is best in everyone elses mind for a monk to use.
I've done a lot of research on other sites, and the conclusion was these shoes are like having a +20dmg weapon on your feet. So I tested it... I have Sparten Cesti and without the shoes my kicks are noticably less than my punches. WITH THEM HOWEVER... They do the same as my punches. They're worth it.
