Master, have you ever heard of the Doll Festival, kupo?

The Doll Festival is a Far Eastern celebration where people pray for the health and happiness of girls. During this time, girls are given rice treats to eat, and have a special place to decorate with dolls, kupo.

A festival that provides such a fun opportunity for laughing and playing sounds like a great idea, don't you think, kupo?

You know, since a lot of the lady adventurers out there grew up in the aftermath of the Crystal War, I bet they didn't get a chance to enjoy this festival, kupo...

And that's why the Mog House Management Union has come up with a plan! We're going to return those lady adventurers to their childhoods, and give them the experience they never had, kupo!

Hm? You don't think you're up for it? And what about the guy adventurers? Don't you worry, kupo. Try talking to the moogles in charge of the festival and see what happens!

This time you're in for some real moogle magic, kupo!

-

Make an alliance of 10 players and then go talk to Moogle. He will hand you a random assortment of racial cakes which upon eaten will turn you into a little girl.

A perfect combination consists of:

4 females, 1 of each race 6 males

1 female leader 1 male leader

Using this combination will get you all types of rice cakes.

I did this a few days back just for the hell of it. If you alliance with 10 people, each party being 5 people, nad have 6 males and 4 females then the moogle will say its the perfect configuration and give you 3 of each cake. :D

-- you do not need 6 women and 4 men, 5 and 5 works fine (so long as there are at least 4 women, it seems to work, and one man at least)
-- you do not need a bard, it works with a bard but also without...in fact I did it both ways that there was NO DIFFERENCE
-- you do need exactly 10 alliance members, 11 will not work and 9 will not work
-- all alliance members must be in the same district of town

-- not sure if these reports of "perfect configuration" are true, all I can say is that one alliance I was in tried to set these up and nothing different ocurred

ok let me just make this abundantly clear. There is no need for anymore dispute, 6 men 4 women, 1 man leading one of the parties and one women leading the other to represent the empress, 3 of each cake.
.
# Mar 03 2005 at 7:57 PM Rating: Decent
I didn't have a Bard in my alliance and still got 3 of each. You also dont need 4 guys and 6 girls or vice versa. Lots of rumours sprinkled all over this quest for some stupid reason.
You are mostly all wrong!
# Mar 03 2005 at 4:57 PM Rating: Default
In order to get a sample of all rice cakes (3 ea)
You need at least 1 BRD in your party... any lv! we did it with a lv 1 brd in our pt and got them. its as easy as that.
Clarification
# Mar 02 2005 at 10:30 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, there seems to be a bit of confusion between people regarding this quest, so I thought I'd clear things up for those of you who want to try it out, rather than sit here and complain about it.

First off, as I assume you already know, there are six locations with moogles:

Southern San d'Oria (K-9)
Northern San d'Oria (D-8)

Bastok Mines (I-9)
Bastok Markets (G-8)

Windurst Waters (F-5)
Windurst Woods (K-10)

Each of these moogles will give you the "quest" (though, its not realy a quest, its an event :P) To complete this quest, you must form an allianced party of 10 people, no more, no less; after, go talk to one of the moogles listed above (with your party/alliance still together) and receive your gifts.

The rewards of this are 4 different types rice cakes, each type turns you into a female child(Hume rice cake= Hume female child; Mithra rice cake= mithra child; Tarutaru rice cake= Tarutaru female child; Elvaan rice cake= Elvaan female child)
The ammount and type of rice cake(s) varies, not sure if this is random, or has to do with how many guys/girls in the party.
Also, this event can only be done once every Vana'diel day (yes, you can do the quest again when the Vana'diel clock resets to 0:00, you dont need to wait 24 game hours)

There have also been some rumors going around, a couple which I know are not true:

"You need a party of 6male and 4female characters"
This is not true, I've done this with a party of 4 male and 6 female characters and 5/5; there might be a need for a 9/1 ratio, I'm not positive about that.

"You can only complete the event once a day"
"You have to wait 24 hours to do the event again"
The first one here is true, but often mistaken. You can only complete this quest once every Vana'diel day. As soon as the game clock resets to 0:00, you can do the quest again.

Hope this little bit of info helps. If you see something wrong here, please correct me. :P

*edits*
If you create a new character, you must wait one untill the clock resets to 0:00 (the next day) before you can do the quest.

There is NOT another reward becides the rice cakes, no armor, no weapons, no furniture, just the rice cake foods.

You CAN obtain more than 3 rice cakes at a time.

There IS such thing as Elvaan rice cakes; just quite rare I guess.

Good post, but here is one correction:

Contrary to what you said, you can recieve more than 3 rice cakes. In fact, I have done this 'quest' twice so far, and both times I managed to get 3 of each kind of cakes, 12 total. I wish I had written down what the pt build was in each instance.
I hate to say this because I'm not certain, but I think the 6male/4female ratio may actually be accurate to receive 3 of each. Like I said, I'm not certain, but that looks like what I had in my PT both times.
If anyone has determined (for fact, please) what PT builds give what result, please post. Thanks^^

There's also an elvaan girl in Upper Jeuno above the Chocobo Stables who blathers on about "are chocobos really birds? Then why can't they fly?"

Well, they're just more rare. There is one in Port San d'Oria, the one connected to "the Pickpocket" quest, Miene, the one that gives you Esca's button.

The configuration of the party is NOT important, just the ratio of men to women. 6men 4women. That's it.

actually, it was posted somewhere else but the correct configuration is: 1st pt- one man and one woman... 2nd pt- 5 guys... 3rd pt- 3 girls
that will have the moogle tell you that you have perfect setup and you should recieve
3 M rice cakes, 3 E rice cakes, 3 T rice cakes
and 3 H rice cakes... hope this helps

I'm not sure that the configuration of the parties matters as much as the ratio 4 female:6 male. Last night we tried with 6 random males, one F mithra, F hume, F taru and F elvaan. The party was not set up any particular way, excapt all females happened to be in one party. We still got the "perfect setup" from Moogle.. thanks to our "luck".. errr "resourcefulness" :)

This is not true. Last year around this time was the Sakura Festival, (Sakura is japanese for Spring, and they used the same decorations as this event) and no rare/ex items or other presents were involved.

Just enjoy the events and don't expect a rare/ex item every time, or you will be disappointed.

Sakura is the Japanese word for Cherry Blossom. Haru is spring.

The only part that matters about configuring a party/alliance for this event is:

10 Players in an alliance

6 Male Characters
4 Female Characters

Jobs of each character does not matter. It does not matter which sex is in which party. As for the race of the female characters I am not positive as to it is necessary to have one from each race.

With all of the hatred and frustration flying around regarding the other citizens of Vana'diel. I think we should stop and think for a moment. "How screwed would we all be if the MHMU went on strike?" They are our lifeblood. They clean our houses, sign for packages, and organize our stuff. But most importantly, they are the gremlins in the Auction Houses. If they were to ever strike, our economy and way of life would grind to an effective halt.

They put on these fun events because they love us and are a fun a happy people. So please, be kind to your moogles. Before the kill us all in our sleep for lack of kindness.

Thankyou

# Mar 02 2005 at 9:44 AM Rating: Default
I'm gonna laugh when the 2nd part of the event starts and all these people ate their cakes and won't have anyting to use to get the actual item... cause think about it. Even the lamest event they've had, we always get an item. Not just food. Trick Staff, Moogle Belt, Mandragora Belt, etc...

My suggestion is get your cakes and hold onto them till we get more info.

Also, in a party of 4 females, 6 males, to receive all 4 types of rice cakes, be sure to have a female from each race- i.e. one mithra, one hume, one elvaan and one tarutaru. That will assure that you get 3 cakes of each of the 4 types, for a total of 12 cakes.

I have head that if you keep the same party together for an entire game day there is another prize (a doll?). Has anyone tried this?

I did this quest with a alliance of 5 females anf 5 males, we all got 3 cakes of the different races each. I think that's how you get more. Just my bit of info ^^

Here's the deal>
4 women and 6 men is the "perfect" combo and you get 3 rice cakes of each of the four races equaling 12 rice cakes.

And No, it doesn't matter how you arrange your alliance, you can have the women in one party and men in the other, or a split of 5 and 5, or even have a 3 party alliance...

Otherwise, the rice cakes you get depend on which races the women in your party are. In other words if you have a mithra and a hume female, and all the rest guys, you'll get 1 mithra rice cake and 1 hume rice cake. You don't get multiple rice cakes for having more than 1 mithra.

I assume we will see a second half to this quest that may get better items, but for now I'm stock piling.

It makes sense.. this event is because of the japanese Hinamatsuri.. girls day festival. the dolls for it are emperor+ empress, 3 serving girls, 5 samurai (top 3 tiers) so that would be 4 women and 6 men total.

On one of these days, I got a total of 12 cakes from the moogle.

I believe the alliance of 10 people must consist of 6 males and 4 females. Out of these 10, I think 5 must be mages to receive all 3 of each kind.

on another occasion, I only recieved 2 cakes. It all depends on your alliance

Get an alliance of 10 peolpe in the same area & click the moogle.

Once per vanadiel day, you will get 3 cakes, taru, elvaan, hume or mithra, depending on something like the configuration of the party.

Hope that helps
