Summary

Naruru can't find her favorite cooking pot. Get her a new one from the Windurst Culinarians' Guild.

Walkthrough

You might have to do the Wonder Magic Set quest before you can get this.

Naruru is looking for a new Super Soup Pot. She wants you to go to Windurst and get a new one for her at the Culinarian's Guild. Head to Windurst and talk to Maysoon. He tells you that he will give you the pot after you bring him a jar of royal jelly.

This is dropped by Awd Goggie at Crawler's Nest. In order to get it to drop, you need to do the following:

  • Place a rollanberry (you can buy that) in one of the first crawler nests (J-9 or F-8 of map 1).
  • Wait for a Worker Crawler to swallow the rollanberry and kill it. This gets you a new rollanberry.
  • Take that rollanberry to the nests on map 2 (G-7 or G-8). Wait for a crawler drone to appear and get the rollanberry and kill it.
  • It drops a different rollanberry. Take this to Map 3 and put it in a nest at D-7.
  • A crawler matron will appear. Kill her and retrieve yet a different rollanberry.
  • Bring this rollanberry back to Map 2, section E-7, and put it in the nest there. This triggers Awd Goggie to spawn. Kill him to get the royal jelly.

Take the jelly back to Maysoon and he will give you the soup pot. Return that to Naruru for your final reward.

You can also get the jelly to drop from Death Wasps in Crawler's Nest.

Took me about 15 kills in Crawlers Nest to get drop from bees.

Royal Jelly is available elsewhere...

I also got the jelly from the Notorious Monster, Death from Above, in the Temple of Uggalepih
Easy Way

i say the easiest way to do this quest is to just kill bees until they drop a Royal Jelly, no need to go through the whole quest.
incorrect prerequisite
# Feb 21 2006 at 10:46 PM Rating: Decent
"The Wonder Magic Set" is a prerequisite for this quest.

I found the listing of "Hoist the Jelly, Roger" as a prerequisite to be misleading. Start "Cook's Pride" by talking to Naruru in the Merchant's House at H-10 in Jeuno Lower. Then Maysoon will add "Hoist the Jelly, Roger" to your current quests when you visit her at the Culinarian's Guild shop in Windurst Waters. "Hoist the Jelly" is completed when you give Maysoon the Royal Jelly; then "Cook's Pride" is completed when you bring the Super Soup Pot key item from Maysoon to Naruru.

As others have already noted - it's MUCH easier to solo this quest by simply killing bees for the Royal Jelly, in Crawler's Nest near the entrance. I got the drop after about 10 Death Jackets, RDM67 subbing THF30 for Treasure Hunter.

For this quest you have to do The Wonder Magic Set quest. After you finished that quest, you talk too Naruru for the quest, she talks about her Super Soup Pot, you run to Windhurst and talk to Maysoon (sp) at the Culinaries Guild. Trade her the Royal Jelly (Which I got from the Death Jackets in Crawlers Nest with out Treasure Hunter in about an hour) and she gives you the Super Soup Pot. Go back to Jeuno, and talk to Naruru once again and the quest is complete.

I just talked to Naruru and got a cutscene with the cardian coming back from the groceries. Then I talked with Panta-Putta that asked me for a Wonder Magic Set. Right after this I talked to Naruru again, and she told me she had to start fixing something, but that she couldnt find his Super Soup Pot anymore. She didnt ask me to bring her anything though, so I dont know if the quest is active yet or not...

Well, I don't believe this is a pre-requisite for another quest. That being said, 90% of the time I will do quests to either:

A) See the storyline/cutscenes.
B) To have a larger "Completed Quests" log.

The last 10% of the time is the reward, I won't deny that. Some big-name items come from quests, that's for sure. But when you get a quest with a good story and a good reward, there's not much better. ^^;

Edit: Heh, I just decided to double check if this is a requirement for another quest. Turns out that it is for the quest "The Lost Cardian". That also leads to the quest "The Kind Cardian". Both of these have mediocre rewards I believe. 2100 gil for the first quest and a Green Cape from the second quest.

Well, off to complete them. =D

Just a thought, instead of going through all this hassle trying to kill Awd Goggie, can't you just farm Death Wasps to get the drop?

Kill the wasps
# Aug 29 2004 at 5:50 AM Rating: Decent
The easiest way to get the royal jelly is to kill the death wasps - I got mine on the first kill.

I know other people who have tried to do it the long way i.e. moving rolanberries from basket to basket, and they said it is torture ^_^;;

Yes I agree. I hadn't done this quest yet because it sounded too hard for my little RDM. I went to crawler's to level my dagger and got 2 royal jellies off of death wasps within a half hour. Happy hunting!

Just a note: It's not always that easy. I did this with my PLD friend (since I was not able to solo the wasps at the time) and even with my Treasure Hunter II, it took about 20 minutes to get a Royal Jelly. :P

I got the jelly by killing death wasps. It dropped on the 2nd kill. When my paladin was level 50.

Why Is Quest Not In my Quest List?
# Jul 29 2004 at 6:47 PM Rating: Decent
I talked to her.. and I got a cutscene.. When it was over I talked to her again.. she mentioned she need a pot but did not tell me to get one. I talked to her husband and her child and then her again.. I still do not have the quest in my list of current quests

Queen Crawler
# Jul 24 2004 at 2:54 AM Rating: Decent
Well the person that gives you the quest tells you to get the Royal Jelly from the "Queen Crawler" which would be why the person wrote the long instructions about switching around the Rolanberrys.

Seems the game is misleading the player...
Royal Jelly and Rollanberries
# Jul 16 2004 at 8:43 AM Rating: Decent
the rolanberry and the notorious moster that is summoned by it is for the Rollanberry quest in Selbina and has nothing to do with getting Royal Jelly With the Rollanberry you need to do the long Process in order for it to age so that you can get a good reward for turning it in to the Galka in Selbina

After completing this quest, talk to the whole family; they wonder where Two went. Then go to the infirmary in Upper Jeuno and talk to Monberaux; I had to talk to him several times, because at first he wanted to talk about events from the rank 4 mission. Eventually you get a cutscene, 2100 gil, and Two of Swords as a key item.

This quest shows up in my Completed list as "The Lost Cardian", but I don't think it was ever in my Current list.

No, I did the Wonder Magic set quest first.

I've received this quest already and none of my jobs have reached L40 yet, so that Min. Level requirement is off...

Also, the next quest after this one is started by talking to the doctor in Upper Jeuno.

2 things:

First, I can absolutely confirm that regular Death Jackets in the Crawler's Nest drop the Royal Jelly.

Second, there is a quest after this. I can't complete the clock tower petition quest because Teigero-Bangero is too worried about what happened to "Two" to talk about anything else. I haven't gotten anywhere on the Two quest yet, I'm just looking for info now.

couldnt u kill death jackets in yuhtunga and get the jell-o?
too complicated
# Feb 22 2004 at 11:39 PM Rating: Default
Umm wow, why go through all this killing crawlers back and forth and trying to get yourself killed, when you can just kill Death Jackets at the entrance for jelly...
They really need to give a better reward for killing Awd Goggie who happens to be level 68...
I guess this quest is only useful for keeping the berry that Matron Crawler drops (it's worth quite a bit), and not going all the way to Goggie

actually, this is way too complicated. i got a jar of royal jelly off the killer hornets near the entrance of the map. you dont have to do this complicated rolanberry thing.
