This can be very helpful for people, specially those not in beta but interested in crafting upon release.

On the other hand I think it would be better to do a specific thread on each specific forum for the respective DoH recepies.

Good idea, I'll go ahead and throw those up.

Nice link.

I've added the recipes posted above to all of the DoH forums.

Still annoyed that they removed the linen bowstring from the carpentry vendor. No one knows the recipe to make it so I am stuck with my lvl 1 bow.

When open beta hits, I'm going to try and make a DoH/DoL focused blacksmith, to try and craft weapons for everyone. Since in this beta I never saw anyone selling upgraded weapons, and most people even at rank 20 were running around with the starter weapons.

I've seen people make upgraded weapons over and over, but no one will sell them for some reason, I dunno why. I've sent tells to no avail. So I started trying blacksmith on my own...

Why do I fail synthesis so much? I've tried using the common smith forge access and the advanced smith forge access, but I've only had two successful synths out of like 10-15. Is there a trick to synthing that I'm not understanding, like timing or which to use? I use standard synth for the most part.

You need to use the "Wait" command when you see your crystal is unstable. That will help you a lot. Also If standard is breaking your crystal, throw in a rapid here and there. Try not to go for too much quality at lower levels.

^ I'll try that, thanks. I was finding that even rapids weren't helping, but I can try some rapid/wait combos for the most part.

They made some changes to the recipes during the Beta process, yes? Mostly to the results from what I've heard.

I'm wondering if there will be any more changes by release. Could be potentially frustrating.

At any rate, great job compiling these! No doubt will be useful to loads of players.

I saw someone selling a bronze dagger for 12,500 gil >.>

People are making better weapons but I think they sell pretty quickly

I failed pretty much every time with goldsmith until level 4 then I would succeed 1/4 times or so. I use mostly rapid and only use standard or bold if I have like 10 per cent left and a lot of durability left. With Alchemist I succeeded on my first try. You may be attempting a recipe that is above your level. My goldsmith was doing something like a level 5 recipe while my alchemist was doing level 0. It makes a huge difference.

The thing with crafting is finding the easy stuff and leveling off of it. If you pick something too difficult, you will fail. I know there are people making weapons, just not the one I need.

I was trying level 0 synths, but the one thing I was not doing was using rapid, I was using standard for the most part. I also may have been using the wrong hand, I was trying to see which hand work better for things, I'll have to tinker with it more so I don't blow my real mats at launch. Which hand you use isn't really spelled out yet in the guides.

Thanks for this good starter info for the DoH classes. I was worried I would be wasting my materials for my alchemist, but now I can check this list out for some recipes to begin leveling alchemy.

I'd love to start finding the supplies and recipes for some good dyes...make them hand-me-down looking low-level rags colorful at least... starter clothes are often pretty lame though

So... where do you buy the tools/weapons needed to start crafting on a different class?

East/West Hawker's Alley in LL lower level, there's a stall for each craft

TIP: harvesting with botanist brings down TONS of beechips which you can turn into way more beeswax which NPCs for more than beechips - so you make nice gils doing it

Blacksmith items aren't there. :\

Actually the only ones I weren't able to find were the blacksmith tools. Can only find Armorer items for sale at the blacksmith/armorer guild.

EDIT: Nevermind, found him, he was behind the door away from everyone else. Smydhaemr. What the **** is with the names in FFXIV...

Actually from what I noticed, the "wait" command changes the color of the orb which somehow has a direct correlation to the success of your next synthesis choice - meaning, with me personally, when i see the orb turn white I hit Rapid Synthesis because I *think* white gives me a higher success rate and well Rapid Synthesis results in the highest amount of progress of the 3 choices, so if I succeed I am boosted up well. Now, when a "crystal" goes haywire on me, I allow the time to drain out and it seems to do something...this doesn't change the orb color but something is altered with the crystal. Still trying to find common trends with crafting but overall I'm finding it interesting...if it wasn't for the **** UI lag, take me an hour to put my recipe together! :S.

Can't believe this game is almost at release, I can't wait any longer! :D

I've noticed or I think I have noticed that when the crystal doesn't have much spinning going on, with rings and stuff but it is giving off red sparks that rapid tends to succeed more. This may just be co-incidence, however.

Excellent thread! I started out as a Marauder but lately I've been having fun with DoL and DoH classes so this is godsend. But if I do go DoH as main, where can I get the crystals? For me they run out very fast because the recipes use a lot of them for a single synth.

You gain crystals from any of the DoL gathering jobs, our you can buy then with guild points.

or you can buy them from bazaars or seek them in your bazaar

I keep forgetting about seeing items in your bazaar. It's a really good idea.
#33 Aug 24 2010 at 2:08 PM Rating: Decent
just remember to do it when you still have shards left because you can only seek as many as you have on you - which seems glitchy but that is how it is at the moment. So I had 10 wind shards so I could only seek up to ten. It also takes the money from your cash pool and holds it in the bazaar so that you can pay immediately.

I still don't get this guild point thing...how do you get it? Do you have to "join" the guild per se? I have rank 10 Botanist atm but I don't have any guild points. :(

Another question, has anybody tried the Retainer Bazaar? How is it different from your character's bazaar? I'd like to give it a try, but was turned off by the insane lag between my retainer and me.

You get guild points from leves, just not all leves. You can increase the amount you get by exchanging additional leves in for that one.
