I ran the benchmark on my Desktop and after the square enix logo flashed and the first scene loaded the score spot began to have numbers over numbers and the graph created a bunch of peaks which it eventually blended together and made a solid block. The cutscene was never shown, but I got a surprising high 900 for my machine

Windows Xp
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+ 2.6GHz
2GB RAM (1 availible)
Geforce 7900 GTX 512MB

everything is updated

I believe he meant his score was in the upper 900 range.

Or he's talkin' about your high score on Pole Position ;)

I honestly wouldnt believe what the benchmark tells you.

I have an outdated:

windows 7 home
q6600 Intel quad 2.4ghz (overclocked to 3ghz)
4gb DDR2
dual Nvidia Geforce 8800 gt's.

On low i got 3k

on high i got 1300.

In the beta with a few tweaks i can run on high just find.

What I do notice is on low, the cpu appears to do more work then the gpu.

Server connection appears to be the worst part in the game. i have 13mb dl and 1 ul and i can stream video, and dl stuff which makes no difference how ffxiv plays even if i didnt have those things in the background. I hope they get the servers ready to go by launch.

Timepaige, my PC had almost the same specs, and all I did was buy a new video card. Was ~900, blank benchmark, and unable to launch beta client - Now 2500 on low and beta client is fully downloaded.

(I should look into overclocking, might squeeze a bit more out of what I have...)

I was joking about getting a 900 with a blank screen, what do you mean by pole position

My original score from the Benchmark was 1350, but with some tweaking i got it up to 1500. Only just recently i decided to use the HDMI input in back of my tv instead of the vga connection and my score went up to 2000. Im sure i could get it higher with getting a better graphics card in it but i should be fine even with some settings turned off. I would imagine it will be similar to when i started playing FFxi with a single core celeron processor.... it was more designed for office work and not heavy into gaming... As prices drop I will either get a new pc or build one my self.

That's when you have to reposition your belt to conceal your enthusiasm.

Ok, you win. You got me by a few years...though the next time someone says something like "What do you mean by Pole Position?" we should find them and hurt them...or at least give them a stern talking to. That's what old folks do, right? :P
