hi everyone, im not sure how often ill post here, but i will be returning to check on the status of the game.

i stopped playing a while ago, and i am going to wait for 2.0 or maybe begin playing a little while before it starts.

i really wanted to love this game when it came out, i hope that it can turn around. is there a thread or a website that plots out the changes that have been made so far?

the things i want to know about are the map, is it easier to use? and is there some sort of auction house or are people still awkwardly selling and buying their things through 1000 bored looking avatars?

can i find a list of possible changes being made?

i really look forward to returning, i hope 2.0 will be great and a massive turn around!

honestly, i want the FFXI feel to return, im not sure if it will ever come though.

anyway, if anyone can be bothered, please tell me the on-going updates to see if this is worth waiting for!

thanks guys :)

Lodestone lists the changes but to answer some:

The map has been improved, quests have markers (throught journal menu though), party members are displayed now and other little changes.

The Markets have been improved and now you can search for an item and buy it without setting foot in the wards THANK THE HEAVENS for that one. Who thought that would be a good idea? still baffled...

The game is starting to shape up, I've been partying and at first I was confused because I come from a FFXI type mentality and that doesn't exactly apply here, the direction that I see this game going in is like a slow motion action MMO if that makes any sense. The whole idea of roaming parties and multiple enemies at once still seems to be there. Basically a variety of parties will work and you will have multiple of the same roles at once, this is all just my take on it. You get Light and Full party bonuses and you'll find yourself attacking large groups of higher level mobs and things can get pretty hectic not to mention pretty fun.

The class abilities have been reworked I still miss some abilities like the damage reflect spikes THM had forgot the name d'oh! Combos are fun to do as well, and I Like that AOE spells can be made single target through them, it's turning out pretty nice but still a looooong way to go for all of this to be fine tuned and improved.

Got my Gobbue mount as well and it's ridiculous I thought it would feel good but not really liking it, however it's still nice to be able to pick up a mount for free with almost no time invested until you get a chocobo.

Well went off there going to play a bit now.

You're not really liking it, probably, because there's nothing interesting about getting something "for free with almost no time invested." If you don't earn it, it won't fee like an achievement; and if everyone can get it, then it will be even more commonplace than a chocobo. Well, that, and it looks pretty lame, but I've been forbidden from mentioning that badly rendered carpet ever again!

FFXIV has come pretty far since launch. It is a much more enjoyable game now. If you already own the game I would actually suggest you subscribe for 1 month and see for yourself. However I would wait until the 1.21 patch. If your character is on one of the low population servers I would either start a new character on a more populated server or wait until the server transfers happen.

I know you asked for info so I would suggest checking out the patch notes here and if you haven't already check out the 2.0 info here and scroll to the very bottom and check out the PDF's.

Not true actually I don't like it because it's too big and obscures my view most of the time. It is most definitely lame though I agree on that.

ah thanks guys!

i found all the info about the 2.0 update, hopefully their plans are delivered on time, but i know square and i know they delay everything always.

im SO, so happy to hear they are changing that market system up, it was horrible at first. good to hear the map has been fixed.

i do own a copy, but i feel like i should be reeeeeally patient and im sure ill be rewarded for that. in the meantime, im going to return home (ive been working overseas), get a new job, save for a new computer and then begin to play. to get a computer will take some time, so until then, i wont start up again.

its good to hear the battles are fun, but it sounds like they are still a tad slow. what about high level battles, does it ever speed up? is it something they are still changing and experimenting with?

thanks for the feedback guys, very much appreciated!
