Hello everyone,

i have a very simple question , i keep reading in the forums about how everyone is doing this epic quest line just before the world "ends" and that SE is adding a question with each small patch till the end comes. will that chain quest or story be available after the launch or will that be removed?

am asking this due to the fact that i've been thinking of coming back to FFXIV, and this exciting quest seems like a good time but it all depends on the answer of the stated question above.

It won't be available. It's an exclusive storyline for current players.

They've even gone so far as to say they will actively remove any videos of it from Youtube, though they haven't done a good job.

The quest is great, and the one they just added is amazing, IMO, even though it is BASICALLY a fetch quest. You and the rest of the world are on a pilgrimage to pray to the Twelve for salvation, going to each stone the represents them. Seeing 40 -60 players /praying at each site gave me the slight chills and really gave a good amount of lore.

No battle, just a pilgrimage and a sightseeing adventure one last time through the entire world before it's destroyed.

Yeah I just completed United we stand and will do my best to be able to get this questline done because it is SO cool. I really love it despite all the UI problems and whatnot it has definitely been worth my time to get this done=)

I haven't seen anything on this pilgrimage quest yet. Is this after the "to kill a Raven" or is it part of the main quest that I had thought ended at "Futures Perfect"? I stil have to finish the Van Darnus fight... 0/2 so far, mostly just getting unlucky with time :(

Someday soon my friends, this ride will come to and end, and we can't just get in line again.

Yes, this follows "To Kill a Raven" and I believe there's a fight afterward, but I haven't done that yet. It is a great farewell to the world though.

There's no fight for the quest after praying to the 12. It does, however, unlock the hard mode of the van darnus fight.

The main scenario is on hold until after 2.0.

The "end of the world" storyline refers to the Grand Company storyline which will be changed after the launch of "A Realm Reborn". Obviously, because the world isn't coming to an end any longer.

How will this affect our current GC quest progress if the current storyline is being wiped out? Will we all be able to/forced to start from 2.0 GC quest 1? Will we start at the first quest obtained after becoming an enlisted member? Or possibly will they just throw us in the middle of the questline at the equivilant place in the new scenario, like if I am currently on GC quest 12 will i be transferred over to 2.0 GC quest 12 so as to preserve my current progress even tho the storylines have completely changed?

Current GC will be different than 2.0 GC in terms of storyline quests. The GC story you're playing through right now will be gone. I don't know what they plan to do with ranks but chances are they carry over, i can't see them resetting people.

The current Main line quests will be wiped, but you will keep your achievements. The exception to this is the Relic Weapon Quest where they will maintain your progression in that.

It was explained that this was due to the change in Story, and for the most part the reboot in the entire storyline.

And yes, the world is coming to an end again... (with the start of each new age, a new ending is destined to come). However, it sounds like it is just the threat of invasion remains after this storyline ends. You even get a hint at it in the pilgrimage when you run into an old character from the main storyline.

Also, as you pray to the 12, when you reach your god you receive a gift from them. More clutter gear, but still a cool idea.

Well, they are removing the current quests, and giving us new ones. It's safe to assume EVERYONE will "have" to do them all. I say "have" to because.. don't you want to do the quests?

They will probably preserve your rank though, it's not like the companies or cities are being removed.
