Pretty sure vague statements ≠ guaranteed promises.

This is SE where Mid (insert month) is all the way to the two last days, and the remaining two are 'late" (insert month)

Just like how the beta is coming "at the beginning of June" but I think it's a pretty safe bet that's not happening. Their "beginning" will end up being about the 20th most likely. It is a bit frustrating when they say they'll do something, and literally 10/10 times it won't happen when they say it will. That's SE for ya...

That's a lot of developers actually.

I'm fine with them taking their time and getting it right this time rather than rushing out to meet arbitrary deadlines. We've seen what that looks like. Let's try this instead.

Why release a date now, when they can keep us in suspense for E3!

Also, pretty sure we will get that in the live letter in June.

Also the release date in the Best Buy computers is listed as 8/27 (could be a placeholder though.)

I'm fine with it too, but it's still frustrating when they say something and don't follow through... every time. I'd rather have them just say it will be out when it's out, instead of give us false dates they basically know they won't be able to keep. I mean, they announced beta phase 3 starting at the beginning of June less than a month ago. It's pretty obvious they knew then it wouldn't happen, especially considering the Sony licensing issue.

Can you blame them tho ? They are making the game as they go along, if you really think the game is all done and just needs beta testing... Well you are adorable... Beta Phase 3 will be probably by the end of june, when they say At the start of something, it actually means, 2 days before that date is over, like the flood etc etc.

Did they not said, at the nico whatever event, that they would release a release date, price, and what not before the next letter ?

Believe me, I played FFXIV 1.0 beta. I know they are far from finished. Hence why I think it's silly to try and put a date on something before they know it will be ready. If I repeatedly told people a timeframe when something would be finished at my job, only to miss that deadline every single time, I wouldn't have a job anymore, or at the very least I would have a lot of people very dissatisfied with me.

I agree he's doing awesome. I agree they should have as much time as they need. ****, I encourage it. Just don't put timeframes on things until you're more secure that you can meet them. But whatever, it's not like I'm going to quit being interested because they miss deadlines. Just pointing out that it gets old.

The latest letter said we'd have information at the end of the month instead. Vague assurances have been delayed with more, slightly precise, vagueness.

Yeah, no complaints here. Considering how far they've gone off the timeline in the original roadmap, I've gotten used to "delays." I don't mind the wait.

Mmoderator, I salute you. Its only Wednesday & I've already clocked 42hrs. I needed that. Laughter: the best medicine.

On topic: As impatient as I am for this game, I've already waited this long. Waiting a few more months wont kill me. This game getting released early & in the sorry state that 1.0 was at launch however, just might.

I'm still interested in someone, anyone, showing me where SE said that the delay was due to Sony certification. Like I said before, I know how crappy that process can be, and I hope it isnt the case this time.

Cheers

Thanks Atkascha. That was what I thought. I was thinking it had something to do with optimization (PS3 & PC). I don't care either way. I just want the game to be great.

No problem. That's what's been floating around, anyway. It's just weird because Yoshi seemed to retract the statement altogether.
